Solstice Heart

Entering into the heart, you feel a strong sense of resistance pushing you away. It’s easy enough to overcome if you push back, but it soon reverses and you’re pulled into an unfamiliar mansion.

FOYER

[You tumble into the foyer of a mansion, or at least a large house. It’s not exceedingly grand but it’s clearly a home that implies some amount of wealth. However, it’s sparsely furnished and a tad dusty.]

[There are two doorways. Through the one on the right Amethyst colors can be seen, and in the room straight ahead you can see bookshelves. On the left is a staircase leading upstairs.]

LIBRARY

[This room could be called a study, but it’s more like a mini library. Or it would be, if not for the fact that many of the shelves have gaps or are completely empty, covered with the same thin layer of dust as the foyer.]

[One empty shelf stands out for the lack of dust on it; a file folder lays dropped on the floor in front of it. Another shelf looks more frequently used, and even has a label: AATHER. There is a desk in the center of the room, bare but clean of dust.]

LIVING ROOM

[This room looks something like a living room, but it more closely resembles the make of Amethyst’s cabin in Camelot mixed with the current treehouse. However, it’s nearly as bare as the rest of the house. There are various open boxes strewn about, one even laying on its side, as if someone was suddenly interrupted in the process of moving in. A table with twelve chairs crowded around it sits in the middle of the room, and a piece of paper sits on the table. There’s a fireplace and there are shelves along the walls, mostly empty aside from a few framed photos.]

[...There’s a few rockziles meandering about, too.]

[It’s a bedroom, a bit more furnished than the rest of the house but still pretty bare. There’s a bed, a desk with a few things on it, and a closet.]

BASEMENT

[The staircase winds downward, the air growing cooler as you approach the bottom. You exit into a spacious basement… or something. It looks more like a mix between a crime lab and a mortuary. Along the right wall are two bulletin boards, one full of photos and the other with just a few. Along the left are mortuary cabinets, the sort you keep dead bodies in. Running through the middle of the room is a long counter with a number of drawers and its surface is littered with various forensic and otherwise scientific instruments.]

[A young girl with an unusually shrewd look about her for her apparent age steps out from behind the counter when you arrive.]

There you are. He’s not going to be happy you’re down here.

[It doesn’t sound like she cares, though.]

[blinks at her in sincere surprise for a moment, before he flashes her a confident grin]

THE PRISON

[Beyond the small doorway is a long, claustrophobically narrow hallway. It extends for a fair distance, and as you near the end you can make out the faint sounds of a piano coming from somewhere. At the end there are three doors- one on the left, one on the right, and one where the hall ends. The doors are thick and metal, and labeled cell 1 (left), cell 2 (ahead), and cell 3 (right). Each one has a small window with a sliding shutter on it not unlike a cell door, although conveniently placed at a child’s height.]

[Cell 1 has been completely sealed off with duct tape all the way around, including the window shutter. Cell 2 has DANGER painted across it in thick red letters and is the only door with a keyhole. Cell 3 appears normal.]

CELL 1

[The room inside is like a scene out of a nightmare. The walls and ceiling are composed of thousands of long, thin mirror shards of various lengths, some as long as two feet, pointed in toward the room like spikes. The floor is flat but comprised mostly of clear glass over a deep pit filled with erect swords and axes and more mirror shards. Dozens of bodies are impaled on the weapons below. It’s a bloody mess (literally), but if you really want to stare long enough you can make out the colors of Citrine, Peridot, Jasper, Carnelian, Iolite, and Sapphire, along with three teams’ worth of knights.]

[In the very center of the glass sits Solstice (the tiny version), hunched over and deathly still. His wrists and ankles are shackled to four hefty weights that sit immobile on the glass, and small cracks have formed beneath them. The glass beneath him is sticky with blood and the source is clear, as the end of a short blade protrudes from his back.]

[There is a narrow strip of concrete floor lining the room around the glass, but it’s close enough to the walls that navigating it without getting cut would be tricky. On the far side of the room is a grand piano. A woman sits before it and plays, the source of the piano melody.]

CELL 3

[This room isn’t very large. In fact, it’s pretty cozy. It looks like a small study, with a comfy arm chair and an end table with a lamp, a couple of books, and a cell phone. The lamp sheds a warm light over the room, and the atmosphere of the room itself feels relaxing. It’s better furnished than most of the heart too, with pictures of a girl and… actually there’s just a lot of pictures of that girl around. There’s also a mirror hung high on the wall (not actually that high, but higher than you can reach while tiny) with a frame that incorporates a design of Lady Justice. The mirror has a number of hairline cracks in it.]

[It’s hard to tell if this is a room, or if the darkness extends infinitely. There is a table in front of you with a lamp hanging over it, illuminating the file folders stacked on top of it. The table is too high to view the files at your height, but you could blindly pull them down or stand on the single stool beside the table.]

[Being in here gives you an uneasy feeling, as if you’re being watched.]

TRUE HEART

[When the darkness fades, you find yourself seated on a couch in a somewhat shabby looking detective agency. The “Mouri Detective Agency,” judging by the words painted on the windows behind the desk. It's oddly foggy outside. Solstice, as a teenager and dressed in a Japanese high school uniform, stands near the desk with his hands on his hips.]

Honestly, you guys just don’t know when to quit.
