Solstice Heart

Entering into the heart, you feel a strong sense of resistance pushing you away. It’s easy enough to overcome if you push back, but it soon reverses and you’re pulled into an unfamiliar mansion.

[The phone rings and someone picks up, but it seems to be a recorded message left by Solstice (in his teenage voice).]

Ran… I want to say I’m sorry, but I can’t. I couldn’t let you or anyone else get involved. I couldn’t put you in danger, and I couldn’t ask you to keep my secrets. But it’s only a matter of time before you come out of the book. Trying to hide it now would be futile… and honestly, I can’t stand the thought of being Conan again. When you come out, I’ll have to tell you. For that, I am sorry.

I miss you.

[At the end, there is a beep. You know that the phone is now recording, should you choose to say anything.]

[ No, he just feels really bad for Solstice right now.

He'll try the other teammates though, starting with Jill and working his way through. ]

[Jill] It’s strange, with her gone. We didn’t always talk, and when we did I was sometimes… er, rude. But I enjoyed the times that we got along. She was always there for the team. It’s not the same without her.

[Luna] I’ve never had such a hard time understanding someone. Every time I think I’ve figured her out, she proves me wrong. Her sense of morality could use some work… but she means well. I think she’s changed again since I’ve been gone. I don’t know what she thinks of me anymore. But I care what she thinks, that much I know. I’ve lied and gone my own way for this long. I’m not a good teammate. But I want to be, for her sake.

[Eclipse] We’ve had our differences, and our similarities. I still remember when he first joined us. I thought his attitude would be good for the team. It was. I’m the one who's been messing things up.

I’m still not keen on this vigilante heroism business. But I- ha. I have faith in him, where it counts.

[Night] He’s been here the longest out of all of us here. I know it’s been hard for him, to watch the people he cares about leaving or being taken away. I think my return helped, but I didn’t have any power over that. I wish there was something more I could do.

[ JUDGING. And also trying to take a closer look at those cracks in the mirror. ]

[You can just manage to reach and see yourself in it by standing on the chair. Your reflection isn't of your child-sized self, but of how you normally view yourself. However, despite that you feel oddly uncomfortable with it. Is that really me?]
