[you are suddenly at the bottom of a pile of heavy, square-cornered objects. it is rather hard to breathe and they're jabbing you in uncomfortable places. you may want to move.]

[deeeefinitely taking notice of the faded surroundings, and feels another twinge of concern for Firebird as they register. closes the door behind him and starts down the right side of the hallway]

[the corner turns sharply up ahead. it's...brighter?]

[blackjacked]

[lifting a hand to shield his eyes a bit, but presses forward toward the brightness]

[dramatispersonae]

[the right wall of this hallway is absolutely covered with hundreds of torches. three of them at the bottom are lit. the rest are unlit. the left wall is covered with a huge tapestry. the golden brightness is coming from an open door up ahead.]

[blackjacked]

[stops in the hallway for a moment, glancing from the tapestry to the torches, reaching out see if one of the lit ones is removable]

[the tapestry is also faded, but you can make out some sort of hunting scene. men and horses and trees and hounds. what they're pursuing is not visible.

the torch is removable. there's a clicking sound when you tug it free, however, and the eyes of one hound in the tapestry glow red.]

[waaatching that glowy-eyed hound carefully now, but trying to light one of the unlit torches with his lit one anyway]

[now a man's eyes are glowing orange]

[blackjacked]

[hm! proceeds to light as many torches as he can within his reach]

[dramatispersonae]

[rustle rustle rustle rustle rustle. the men's eyes all glow orange, and you're beginning to light the horses' eyes yellow.]

[not stopping! aiming to light ALL OF THE TORCHES though since there are hundreds of them this is probably an impossible goal. BUT WILL GET AS MANY AS HE CAN]

[everything's eyes are lit except the hounds' after about fifty torches . . .there's a commotion coming from the bright and open door, whickering and clipclopping and shouting in a language you can't understand]

[hanging onto his torch and heading toward the noisy door now, pushing his way through to investigate the scene beyond it]

[and then a hunting party (with only one hound) burst out of that door and went charging down the hall towards you]

[now is fabulous time to yelp loudly in surprise and RUN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION]

[oh no oh no they're chasing you down oh no]

[blackjacked]

W-- where the heck--?!

[darting down the hallway as fast as he can, searching for the door or something for him to escape into before they catch up with him]

[THE STOREROOM DOOR IS UP AHEAD]

[blackjacked]

[FLINGING THE DOOR OPEN AND LEAPING INSIDE, shutting said door behind him as he does so]

[dramatispersonae]

[you slam the door in the red-eyed hound's face! and the hunting party thunders past through the hallway outside.]

[l-leaning against the door to catch his breath]

G-geez. . .

[opens the door slowly and peers into the hallway to make sure it is clear]

[dramatispersonae]

[THE HOUND IS STILL THERE RRRRRRRRRRR]

[blackjacked]

[CLOSES DOOR]

. . .

[. . . cracks it open again]

Oooi! Go away. Shoo. Bad dog.

[it tries to snap at you through the crack in the door]

[blackjacked]

[asdiopfj jerks back and tries to shut the door on its snout]
