[you are in a very large room. the floor, walls and ceiling are all huge mirrors. there is a fancy copper lantern three feet high that burns with bright hot light; all the reflections off the glass intensify it several times over. extending from the top of the lantern is a black pole that leads to a platform overhead. you might be able to climb it but it's at least twenty feet up.
there are copper birdcages everywhere, of all sizes and shapes and makes, crowding all the space around the lantern. a forest of cages. it's difficult to navigate.]
[is careful not to burn his hands even more on it as he retrieves the red stone, letting it cool down a bit before pocketing it again. then grabs some strips of Coral-colored cloth and wraps them around his hands so he can try to move the nest out of the indent]
