TRUE HEART

[ You find yourself on the softest beach sand imaginable without sinking deeply into it. The sun is bright, but the sand isn't hot at all. In fact, it's rather comfortable. The ocean's water laps gently at the edge of it. A cool breeze brushes your cheek. If you look out, the ocean goes far beyond the horizon, seeming endless. ]

[ But you're probably distracted by that gigantic standing wave not that far off shore. ]

[ The sound of rushing water is pretty hard to ignore! Except it just... stands there... ]

[ Behind you the others run off the ship and go to topple an approaching figure down to the ground with shouts of joy. ]

[ There sure is laughter and happy going on over here while the one at the bottom is shouting for air and eventually pulls himself up. ]

[ He waves with a grin, though stumbles forward as everyone latches onto him again from behind. ]

For all that I can't breathe now. [ A playful elbow to whoever is directly behind him, which only results in tighter hugs. ]

[ He smiles. ] You certainly took a scenic route.

[ he sure is. though he keeps glancing between the wave and "up" to where he came down through the hole - any damage visible from this end? ]

[ There's a few burn spots, a pile of ashes that everyone is ignoring, and some snow drifts, but no one seems to mind one bit! ]

[ There are siblings galore and a Caspian draped on Night from Amethyst and there's an Edmund lookalike watching everyone. Another lookalike only transparent and half faded in dark, tarnished armor is heading past you, but you recognize him as Penance from the battlefield. ]

[ He stops next to you and turns to face you. One of his hands is curled up in a careful fist, cradling something. ]

[ He looks down at his curled hand, then back up. His voice echoes like it did out on the field, unearthly and quiet. ]

It is a reminder of events. A testament of emotion.

[ He is silent for a long moment, then nods slightly. His opening and outstretched hand speaks more than the nod does. ]

[ In the palm of his hand is a small snowflake. Even like this, it feels cold around it, and its sharp looking edges do nothing to change that impression. ]
