the network ❧ introduction ❧ about aather
all about memoryloss ❧ world info ❧ rules ❧ applicationsAather is a panfandom memory-loss team game set in a world of fairy tales; it's a communal fable about the nature of stories, the power of friendship, and the importance of free will. Characters wake up in the world of Aather with near-complete amnesia and are assigned to a team. Together with this team, they play in games run by beings called the Personae in order to win back their past—and their memories . . .
❧ ❧ ❧You find yourself tumbling into the Ring on a bright, crisp afternoon. The sky above—what you can make of it through the tall, heavy trees—is a soft blue. Every so often there is a flurry of movement as a flock of birds rushes past; they look like nothing more than animated paper cranes, rainbow-colored and fragile, but surprisingly lifelike and energetic. What little light there is from the sky above is supplemented by soft, glowing orbs that hang in the air, impossible to touch and drifting absently throughout the forest.
The ground beneath your feet isn't
ground so much as a
surface, a wide, clear lake that you can see to the very bottom of . . . Down below, deep beneath the water, the silvery branches of an underwater tree reach up towards the sky. Somehow, the surface is solid, like there's a pane of glass holding you up. Each step you take causes a ripple of bright color, the same color as the clothes you wear, or the gemstone key hanging around your neck.
There's a
small card in your hands—where did that come from? . . . ah, of course. You remember, now, even if you don't remember a lot else. You're here to play a game!
