Wako's Heart

You are standing in the middle of the main street of a sizable downtown area.

The early morning sun hangs low in the east. The air is salty and fresh – and oh man is your nose sharp! You can smell the people who came in here with you from yards away! Other stuff smells that strong, too! There is a spring breeze in the air. How do you know it’s spring? You just do. It’s the vibe here. Tropical trees and flowers grow in window boxes and small gardens. There are fairly standard shops (a movie theater! A book store! Small clothing boutiques! And so on), with trucks, cars, and bicycles parked at the curbs. There are no people or animals in sight, but there’s birdsong hanging in the air. It seems to be coming in every direction.

Oh. And you’re dressed like stripper clowns.

Demon vampires first?

[gesturing towards the house]

This demon vampire will protect you with his life if he has to. Not that I expect anything to happen, but you can relax.

[goes into the house!]

[ If you hadn’t seen Dream standing over Wako before, you’d know you were in a dream now: the doorway of this fancy house has opened not into a foyer, but into a kitchen. As suits the fancy house, it is a very fancy kitchen, though. There’s a checkerboard floor, white countertops and walls, big windows opening to the sea, rows of wooden cupboards. One of the burners on the range is on, with a large pot sitting on top of it, and the oven is set to 350F, with a pan sitting on top of it. A wide array of cooking implements are spread out on the countertops, and three cups, plates, and sets of utensils and napkins are stacked neatly in a corner. There are post-it notes on a far cabinet, the fridge, and the door of the oven.

There are no doors except the one you came in. ]

[ The note on the oven says: “Lunch for three!”

The note on the fridge says: “Restocked and ready, master!” It’s signed with a small pawprint.

The note on the cupboard says: “Restocked and ready, master!” It’s signed with a doodle of a bunny’s face ]

[looks at the walls to see of there's a clock]

[ Sure. It's 11:30. Why is it 11:30 when it was early morning ten minutes ago? Dunno. ]

[checks if whatever's being cooked is what Sugata cooked for Wako's birthday]

[ There's nothing in the pot, but since everyone has super-smell in this game, you'll be able to pick out that the fridge smells like it has lots of food, and so does the cupboard with the post-it. ]

[looks for a spoon to stick in empty pot. Checking if it's actually empty or just invisible]

[ It's empty. ]

[and the oven?]

[ On, but empty!

In fact, with your weirdly good nose in this game, you'll smell that all the food seems to be in the fridge or in the one cupboard with the post-it. ]
