Apple's Heart

Your arrival is marked by the feel of sand under your feet, with the sound and smell of the ocean wafting in from behind you. A dampness hangs in the air and the sky is overcast. Directly in front of you the sand fades into a grassy hill, on top of which a white castle rests. To the left, a little ways off, you can see tall sandstone cliffs. Off to the right is a large field of sunflowers that stretches out into the distance. There are no paths or signs anywhere to be seen.

It looks like a very big column. There's a guard leaning against it.

"Can I help you?"

Ahh, one of the guys downstairs suggested I check up here. Since someone's expecting me or something.

"Jeez, it's just one after another, isn't it..." He scratches the back of his head. "I'm not going to let you. Sorry."

Haaaah, I guess I need some proof or something, huh?

"Something like that. You don't even know who you're here to see. Why should I let you see them?"

[Holds up notebook.]

Ahh, I guess the person who owns this? I wanted to ask them what's up with the messy beach.

"That's for you guys. And here I thought she was making it easy."

Guess I'll look around downstairs a bit more.

[Going to check that lighter wood door.]

The room is unmistakably the pharmacy. There is a large bookshelf full of reference books, and an equally large medicine cabinet. A window to the right shows a clear view of some training grounds where a handful of guards are practicing. At the back of the room there is a mixing area where medicines can be made. To the left there is a small door. At the moment, it seems that no one is here.

[Oho. Going to check out that mixing area. :o]

There are some half made medicines there, and a few stems, roots, and leaves.

[Any reference books open?]

There are two. There is one on medicinal plants that cause paralysis, and another that helps make sleep droughts.

[CAN I MAKE A SLEEPY DROUGHT POTION... and try to not think about the paralysis potion...]

You can! There are enough ingredients there that if you can follow instructions, you can make it.

[IS TOTALLY MAKING THAT POTION.]

It's going to take a while. But you will have one sleeping potion when you're done.

[Can I take my new potion to the tall dark door? '-']

You can indeed. The tall dark door leads to the library. Shelves are filled to the brim with books, nearly to the point of overflowing. The light, wherever it’s coming from, is barely enough to see by and keeps flickering dimly. There are a few reading chairs off to the sides. Sitting in one of these is a boy with dark brown hair in his late teens, focusing on the book in his hand.

Every kind of book you could ever think of. In fact, as you think of a book, the title appears on a cover.
