ACE'S HEART

[dramatispersonae]

It starts with a fall: the ground under your feet opens up and swallows you into darkness. Nothing is visible except your own body, not even those of your fellow heart explorers. Nothing can be heard except the wind whistling past. Under that sound, however, is a deep, steady ticking that resonates around and through you.

The falling ends when you feel something wrench deep inside your chest, and you land on your feet somewhere else.

"Well, not really anything in particular. But if you want to keep poking around I can tell you a little about what's here. I fixed up all the rides, you know! ...At least, I fixed up the ones over there." He waves at the side of the park across from the maze, then waves at the rides on the maze's side of the park. "These, don't ask me, they were like that when I got here."

Since you've wandered away from the well the temperature has turned back to normal. The Ferris wheel is quite tall, but all of its cabins are dark except for one near the top. It is lit from within by a faint, flickering light and is about halfway to the ground as you approach.

You can't see much in the unlit cabins. However, as the lit cabin nears the ground, you see yourself sitting inside.

This cabin contains a small table upon which are several objects: a lit tea candle, a wine bottle filled with dark red liquid, and two wineglasses, both half-full. A window is set in the wall opposite the door.

The smell of Ace's blood fills the cabin. However, HeartZero seems unaffected by it.

"Come in if you want to find out."

The wine bottle is nondescript. The cabin door shuts behind you, and Ace waves from the ground as it begins to rise.

HeartZero pushes one of the glasses towards you.

"Drink. You'll feel better."
