ACE'S HEART

[dramatispersonae]

It starts with a fall: the ground under your feet opens up and swallows you into darkness. Nothing is visible except your own body, not even those of your fellow heart explorers. Nothing can be heard except the wind whistling past. Under that sound, however, is a deep, steady ticking that resonates around and through you.

The falling ends when you feel something wrench deep inside your chest, and you land on your feet somewhere else.

Zero reaches out to touch the window. "When he's done, when he's ready... We'll find out what's over there together."

The cabin begins to descend, and Zero returns to his seat.

"It is."

Zero nods, smiling faintly. "He'll tell you he doesn't need help, but...some things you shouldn't have to face alone."

Zero gives you another faint smile, before lapsing into silence as the cabin continues to descend. It's about halfway down now.

There's not much else in the cabin. Though looking at its proportions you might notice that it's built to fit two people comfortably and no more. Looking out the window as you descend, the far shore of the water is gradually obscured by the fence.

[a little quietly as they get near the ground, not entirely expecting an answer] Do you have any idea where the clocktower is, or will I need to find it on my own?
