On the table are a 16 red stones, 8 blue stones, and a 2 black stones. There are also indentations around the edge of the table, each one marked in the color of one of the teams.]

We could try to steal a full defense for ourselves. I don't know if our black stones would steal our blue stones from the other team, but he didn't say it wouldn't, just that we can't play the blue on ourselves.

Even if we didn't get all of our stones back, we would still steal part of whatever defense they had.

A team that others wouldn't expect anyone to cover for is a team who could easily be targeted for attacks.

If you wish to do that, I'll go along, but it's a surprising strategy from you.

The black stones take half their defense, not one stone of it. Playing both on one team would leave them intentionally defenseless no matter how many defense stones we put on them.

If we play the black stones on a team we haven't placed any defense with, there's a chance there won't be any there to steal at all.

I would probably play the red and blue stones on the same team, at this point, and use the black stones on two other teams.

We could split it half and half. One stone alone steals half their points, and we could play it on two teams. Four defense instead of eight.
