On the table are a 16 red stones, 8 blue stones, and a 2 black stones. There are also indentations around the edge of the table, each one marked in the color of one of the teams.]

The black stones take half their defense, not one stone of it. Playing both on one team would leave them intentionally defenseless no matter how many defense stones we put on them.

I would probably play the red and blue stones on the same team, at this point, and use the black stones on two other teams.

And more likely to give them defense, too. If our actions are revealed, then it would look threatening to a number of establish teams. So, we can leave it to them to decide what they will from it. Besides, they're a very clever group.

It would spare everyone else if one team takes on the burden. We'll give them all of our defense to soften the blow.
