CARNELIAN and HELIODOR

Paper walls rise up around your team's table now, and a quill pen appears upon it, along with a well full of ink in a swirl of vivid Carnelian and Heliodor colors. Finely-lettered words shift and scroll in silvery-black ink across their surface, and even if you cannot read or write normally, the ability comes to you for the duration of this game.

So we just come up with our own words for this or something?

I think so? I don't know how we're supposed to make them connect...

We could come up with a theme... it looks like a crossword, so we just need a theme and then we can think of words for the spaces.

An 8-letter word, a 5-letter word, a 7-letter word... and then a 4-letter word down the middle?

Yeah.

It can't be that hard, can it? We could use... [idk horror monsters?? no maybe not horror monsters] ... Is there something you really like?

I like lots of things... um, food maybe?

Food sounds the easiest for all of us.

So we need one for each line, and the 'down' word has to match up... that could be tricky.

Maybe not if we pick the right word going downwards.

Stalk could work as the straight down, perhaps?

Like, a leek stalk? Maybe, but I still can't think of any good food words that end in k that are 7 letters long.

Kidneys.

That starts with k, though...

... Food's good. Let's just do that. The 8 letter word could be sandwich? Sandwich is 8 letters, and it's a good starter for the top too.

Sandwich as the top... maybe the 'down' word can be 'steak'? But then the other two will have to be... _ e _ _ _ and _ _ _ _ _ _ k.

Peach? And... I'm not sure about the longer one, though.
