Well, I'd guess we get turned into something based on our choice there... I assume if we chose the lion we'd turn into a kitten, and if we chose the wolf, we'd turn into a pomeranian or something.

Well yeah, that goes without saying, but we had to choose one of them either way. And it seems like we have to complete three tasks to be done here. If it's between the head and the heart, then... Should we assume that the rose is going to inflict emotional states on us?
