The room is like any other room, really—a cabin with a door, and windows, and beds. But the fireplace never gets warm, and the beds are hard, and the air is cold.

On the table there is food—water, and dry bread, and there is a pot of stew that always stays warm, and full, and smells delicious.

I do. It must be frightening. . . and the fact that even then, you're willing, is a sign of strength.

You don't have to, though. There are others who'd be willing to take the harsher penalties.
