Hm. Then he rushed into a burning building to save someone from a fire, was trapped, burned to death, and later his ashen body was found in pieces under the wreckage?

Yeah, maybe he got the person out somehow. Like ... got them to the door before he was trapped by a burning beam, and then was a hero because of it.
