PERIDOT

[ You're in a room with a tall glass box in the center. Around the glass box are seven desks. On each desk is a paper and three buttons. The only illumination in the room is a single light inside the glass box. ]

Answer truthfully and individually. We'll see how balanced you teams really are.

That's not within the parameters of the question.

. . . and we don't want it to be you.

I would not... make the choice for anyone else, but I would make it for me.

In that case, I wish you wouldn't be so selfish. Because you would be making the choice for yourself. If we all agree that we wouldn't sacrifice one of our team members, and you go ahead and say that you'd sacrifice yourself, you're doing what you want and ignoring the rest of us.

I... think it will be bad to make a choice just because... everyone else did. But it will be bad to make my own choice.

I'm sorry. I don't know. I... if the question is... about sacrificing you or the... others, I... think it would be no.

I'm not saying you can't make your own decision. You should decide what you feel best about. But don't labor under the assumption that you're not being selfish in your decision, by trying to sacrifice yourself all the time.

. . . logistically speaking, without trying to sway you one way or another, the question is deliberately worded so that you cannot answer in such a way as to say "I would sacrifice myself but not sacrifice any of the others." So for you, would the decision not come down to: I feel more strongly about trying to sacrifice myself for the sake of others at the risk of possibly sacrificing one of my teammates; or, I feel more strongly about protecting my teammates and would pass up an opportunity to sacrifice myself to save others to do so.
