Each team finds themselves in . . . what appears to be a space trying desperately to imitate, perhaps, someone's grandmother's overly-cluttered attic. At the very least, there are things everywhere, perched precariously on shelves and ledges, on tables, under tables, tables on tables, cupboards, closets . . .

There is an elaborate gramophone on one of the tables that begins to play with slow, winding crackle of static:

"There's a lot to making things, you know? A lot of components, a lot of pieces, a lot of parts . . . I'm sure you know that! It would be impossible not to. After all, humans themselves are made of a lot of parts! I'll bet if we took you apart you'd be stunned at how many parts there really are, you know, parts that are soft and squishy and parts that are hard and parts that were hurt as a child and parts that yearn for the future . . . well. We're not going to! If we took you apart there'd be nobody left to play the game. But! I wonder what parts you'd show if we were to take you apart just a little . . . ah. Or, just—what parts you'd show if we asked. What will you show? And I suppose, after all, you're each a part of a part of something else, and you'll have to work with what you have . . . but! Maybe that's part of the game. Hmmm . . . parts that are safe to show and parts that aren't—opening up your ribcage to show your heart, now, that would be something! I really think that would be something. But—it's up to you."

Oh, okay, okay, I have an excellent idea that is in no way going to backfire on us terribly or get us in trouble with any pseud-deities. How about, part one, team bonding, we each pick an item for the purpose of stealing and have a serious team bonding discussion about why we chose what we did, and swear each other to secrecy -- part two, we create some sort of smuggling costumes and or elaborate getaway distraction which we will perform for the other teams.

Ok but I have a very serious question of great ethical import.

How do you feel about blatant theft? Because I consider it to be a valid team bonding activity, plus, also, not something I'd want you guys to spread around outside of Heliodor.

Okay, so I'm thinking, part one, we all pick something to take home with us, discuss why that's a good idea -- you know, so we can learn about each other -- swear each other to secrecy, and then, part two, we come up with an elaborate distraction slash getaway plot to perform for the other teams, whereby "perform" I mean "do it to distract them from the fact that we're running off with a bunch of stuff."

I was thinking just from here! I mean, the other teams are in the same boat as we are generally speaking, so that's more just... being an asshole? I can sort of justify taking game materials as sticking it to our oppressors or... something along those lines...

Okay guys, I am swearing you to secrecy. Honor among thieves and some other relevant adage that fails to come to mind. I am about to steal this box full of stuff, specifically wine, pasta, cutlery and this camera, because what better way to arrange a delicious meal for our team and subsequently capture the memory of it? I'm pretty sure "make delicious meals" is my official job description on Heliodor, so yes, thematically appropriate!

But anyway, let us agree to never tell anyone else that we decided this was a good idea. What happens in the game room, stays in the game room. This I solemnly swear!

Ok, dig it: this shit is so solemn it didn't even cry at its elderly guardian's corpse party. We are talking levels of repression so high they are fucking meta-repressed back three degrees and will likely require intense therapy for years to come.

I am stealing this hella fuzzy and adorable bear thing to give to Jason who is also hella adorable.

[Heliodor's... performance... seems to consist of a stack of chairs and tables standing about 8 feet tall. At the very top, a piece of paper is attached--or rather, a long, tapped-together pack of them. From behind the structure Dirk pulls a rope and the papers slowly ... starts... to... un ... fold.
