Taisuke's heart

There's something humming inside of you, a strange new power etches itself into your heart, something you can't quite sense what it is but can feel it's importance. An endless sea of stars stretches before you, shining brightly, but despite the beauty of the scene there's a yearning deep in your gut. You need to go, you need more, you need to move. As if in answer, one light shines brightly in the distance and calls you forward, blinding you as you reach towards it--

[Winces]

I don't know. I can't remember yet, something bad. He was supposed to be locked up but they let him out and he... They gave him one of these. [Holds out a hand with one of the booster seeds in it, it's black and embedded in his palm, thick black veins spreading out and into his skin.]

I have those too, but I'm not sure where to put them. I want to see what we're up against before I figure it out.

Can that...get taken out?

[Shakes his head] I need it still. We need to move. I can't see where the exit is, do... Do you think you can boost this room?

Sure. But where? In the waves?

I just want to make sure I'm helping, not hurting you.

I don't know. [Harsh, sharp laughter] It's my own heart and I don't know anything about it.

Then maybe this will help.

[ hands him one of the seed bean things '-' and then holds the other in her hand. ]

I'll try to find a good place for this one. You hold onto that.

[Takes it, the seed buries itself into his hand again but doesn't look anywhere near so gross as the black one, no horrible black veiny things here. And now he can use his legs \o/

...But still all bloody] Thank you.

No problem. Can you stand while I go look for a spot for the second one?

[Standing] I don't think we should split up.

Then take my hand. We'll stay together.

[Takes her hand with his non-gross one]

[ d'aw, well she would have taken the gross one even still. ]

[ What else is in here that she should be looking at? ] You said we have to hurry, right?

[It's just a giant open space of wave and light, but if we keep looking we might just come across a door]

Yeah, we can't let anyone else get hurt.

[ While they're looking, she's going to sit the seed down in the middle of the waves. HELPING??? ]

I hope this does what I want it to.

[Slowly, the waves begin to move again. The ice doesn't melt but becomes animated, jagged movements with scraping sounds. The lights above shine down on an open doorway.]

It did enough.

Good.

[ hesitates, squeezes his hand a little bit before working her way to that door. ]

[There's growling, and Taisuke stumbles in front of her]

Careful.

You're hurt, though. I won't let you die.

Neither of us are dying. But this is my heart, and I'm not letting it hurt anyone else.

[Through the door there are dozens of dogs, writhing in pain and the pupils of their eyes gone. When they notice Taisuke and Annabeth, they bark madly and get ready to pounce.]

[ She takes a deep breath, squeezing his hand a little harder. Outwardly, she doesn't seem scared at all. ]

[He's trying to edge them to the door on the other side of the room, slowly shifting to the side. One of the closest dogs takes a leap, digging it's fangs into his already injured arm. Another goes for Annabeth's leg.]

Hey, get off!

[ She aims to knee the dog biting Fire in the stomach, letting the other one bite her if it must. She's not so concerned about her own health at the moment anyway. ]

Don't touch him.

[RAAARGH THEY'RE RABID AND FERROCIOUS THEY- Okay no they're actually pretty small and easy to knock off. Good job Annabeth you are the best hero in this heart! The bite it left is oozing the same creepy black stuff as the boost in his hand, but he ignores it to drag her through the sea of angry bitey dogs.]

[ She reaches over to try and brush some of that creepy black stuff away. ]

No problem. Who let dogs into your heart?

[It burns to the touch, you feel a stab of jealousy run through you as he jerks his arm bak too late.] Don't! Don't touch that stuff.

...Normally they're just harmless puppies. Everything's going wrong.

[Escape through the door, now we are on a ship in the middle of a violent storm]
