Apple's Heart

Your arrival is marked by the feel of sand under your feet, with the sound and smell of the ocean wafting in from behind you. A dampness hangs in the air and the sky is overcast. Directly in front of you the sand fades into a grassy hill, on top of which a white castle rests. To the left, a little ways off, you can see tall sandstone cliffs. Off to the right is a large field of sunflowers that stretches out into the distance. There are no paths or signs anywhere to be seen.

Yup . . . I'm really lucky.

"Would you like to meet up with them? I'm sure they're around here."

Eh, they are?

"Some people entered the castle earlier. They're your friends, right?"

Oh! Do you mean Red and Sayaka?

"Those names don't sound familiar...but there was a boy who came in with a guard. Maybe that was him?"

Did he have white hair . . . ?

"Hmm, no, it was blonde. There was also someone named Dragonfly, and someone named Night. Do you know either of them?"

No . . . I don't recognize either of those names.

He scratches the back of his head. "My mistake. We don't get a lot of guests, so I thought you must know them since you all came at the same time."

Well, there's a kind of event going on now . . .

"An event? What kind?"

Just . . . exploring. A little like a scavenger hunt, I guess? But you don't really take anything, just . . . look.

"Like sight-seeing?"

—Yes! Just like that.

"But you haven't gotten to see many sights."

He looks concerned.

I've gotten to talk with you, and I've been able to start a new garden out here. That's something, isn't it?

He smiles. "I suppose it is. And that's more than some other people could say."

Right, so I think I can be proud of it.

"Absolutely! You've got a very kind heart, miss."

Do you think so??

He nods!! "I really do!"

. . . Thank you!

He blushes '-'!!

"It's nothing, miss."
