An older than Hod, but still very young, Guy and Van meet here, when it's dark - they look shocked and thrilled, and Guy bolts and dives straight into Van's arms, crying that he's alive and he thought he'd never see him again. Van soothes him, calling him "Gailardia-sama" - the reunion is heartfelt, although Guy soon asks him why he's here, in their enemy's house. The two sort out that they're both here for essentially the same purpose, to have their revenge against Duke Fabre. Van kneels before Guy and swears an oath to him - to serve him and protect him, and to have their revenge together. Guy is practically beaming with renewed strength by the end of it.
In here is a hallway of marble, and red and gold banners. A blue-bladed sword is mounted on the wall. And at the end of the hall stands a man almost too big to be human, ten feet tall. His hair is deep red and his eyes are vivid green - the same colors as the twins from before.
In one hand is a sword, and in the other, clutched by the hair... the details are not there, but it is unmistakably a severed head.
He looks directly at you. He doesn't move or say anything.
"I'm not threatened by a lost, castaway child," he says. It is clear it is not a boast - he doesn't remotely flinch. "And this is the head of the commander of the army that stood against the forces of Kimlasca. His sword and head are but trophies now.
The same balding gardener from Hod is here, a bit older - as is a ten year old, fatty squalling Luke in a makeshift crib, sleeping away. It's homey, full of thriving plants, and there are two beds. The man looks up - he's weathered, and bent over, but an experienced fighter may be able to see he the bend is deliberate.
You feel much more secure in this room.
"Ah, welcome!" Pere says. "It isn't often we get visitors."
