"How long do you think that will take?" he says. He hasn't budged, hasn't stopped staring. "Years? Decades, perhaps?"

[points the tip of his sword at the head.]

And who's that?

"I'm not threatened by a lost, castaway child," he says. It is clear it is not a boast - he doesn't remotely flinch. "And this is the head of the commander of the army that stood against the forces of Kimlasca. His sword and head are but trophies now.

I suppose his son is, too."

I don't care.

His son?

"You did ask," he states. And that's all he says, though his frown deepens ever so slightly. A bit of extra scorn.

He doesn't move to stop you or say anything else.

The same balding gardener from Hod is here, a bit older - as is a ten year old, fatty squalling Luke in a makeshift crib, sleeping away. It's homey, full of thriving plants, and there are two beds. The man looks up - he's weathered, and bent over, but an experienced fighter may be able to see he the bend is deliberate.

You feel much more secure in this room.

"Ah, welcome!" Pere says. "It isn't often we get visitors."

"Guy is out doing chores right now, but if there's anything you need from ol' Pere, just say the word. What's your name?"

"Hunter..." he pauses.

"Oh-- I know you. Guy's told me about you."

"You're the young Sterling knight, yes? Vandesdelca's, ahem, interest. He thinks very highly of you."

Yes, that's me. You said Guy's doing chores? Can you tell me where to find him?

"Well... truth be told there are two of him about, the one that's doing chores and the one next door." He frowns. "If you're one of his friends... hmm. Could do me a favor?"

[nods]

Of course.

"Could you take this to him? Next door."

He holds a small, potted plant out, with little blooming colorful flowers.

"We had a fight, and he's not letting me in. But I believe someone like you can open the door."

[he takes the plant, carefully, and smiles.]

I'll make sure he gets it, Pere.

[Is there a door other than the one he took in, or...]

"Thank you. Sorry to ask a favor like this."

Just the way you came in. Which leaves the blunted sword room.
