[The mist that's been hovering over the ring spreads out, covering the entire ring so thickly that it becomes as dark as night—and then darker. Too dark to see. Some people may feel things darting about, brushing past their legs or even tugging lightly at their clothes as . . . whatever it is passed them by.

When the mist lifts back into the hovering cloud everyone will find the display has changed. The ballot box this time is out where anyone can see it—voting won't be done in secret this time, though there's still only one vote per team permitted. However, the most eye-catching change are likely the iron maidens that have appeared near the center of the rings. . . . Hopefully that's just rust that's staining them.]

...You think they want to get caught, so they don't have to choose to kill people.

Riku-san brings up a good point. Wolves don't necessarily have to cooperate with one another so long as they fulfill their own roles, I suspect.
blackjacked: (wtf are you doin')

[personal profile] blackjacked 2012-08-26 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
And as long as they're fulfilling their own roles, they don't have to play to win.

So, the wolves might've just left us a big clue, so that we can end this game quickly.
blackjacked: (le sigh)

[personal profile] blackjacked 2012-08-26 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. S'just a matter of figuring out who's lying.

I would imagine most wolves would do their best to play to lose, within the bounds of their rules.

Assuming their desire to survive doesn't outweigh their desire to end this quickly.

We're assuming a lot already.
blackjacked: (can you hear the dots...)

[personal profile] blackjacked 2012-08-26 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
This game is nothing but assumptions.
genderbinary: (Said she's here to waste time)

[personal profile] genderbinary 2012-08-26 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely. If they figured out a way to circumvent the rules the Personae laid out for them, they might be able to undermine their authority in some other manner.
blackjacked: (Jiiiii...)

[personal profile] blackjacked 2012-08-26 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
The problem is, that's assuming the team that's lying is a wolf.

There are plenty or reasons a sheep team would lie about their vote.
genderbinary: (Tunnel and sky collide)

[personal profile] genderbinary 2012-08-26 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
If a sheep team suspected one of their close friends was a wolf team and are trying to protect them, you mean?
blackjacked: (Maybe we can share the shiny?)

[personal profile] blackjacked 2012-08-26 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Or if a sheep team voted for a different team and didn't want to ruin relationships with the team they voted for.

[--shakes her head]

That'd be--dumb. Echo said that the last time this game happened, the Jabberwock punished the friends and other playing teams when one of the wolves tried to quit. And that game didn't even involve death.

...At very least, I'd expect him to hurt people again, if any of the wolves tried to throw the game.

[personal profile] digitalemperor 2012-08-26 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
You don't have to quit the game to play it badly. As long as you obey the rules, there are ways to make yourself obvious.

[personal profile] medpacksapunch 2012-08-26 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, I guess that's true. I'd say, "so, who here least wants to hurt other people" but... that's almost everyone, isn't it?
digitalemperor: (pic#2475758)

[personal profile] digitalemperor 2012-08-26 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Right. Assuming the game forces the wolves to play by the rules, if it made them genuinely okay with hurting others we'd notice the difference. That means, no matter what's being imposed on the wolves, they're probably trying to end this as quickly as we are.

We're forced to kill as much as they are, until it's over.
medpacksapunch: Sakura: petulant/muttering/concerned (bell's gotta ring)

[personal profile] medpacksapunch 2012-08-26 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
...That's a scary idea, that a game could make someone artificially okay with killing.

[huffs]

Yeah. And either way it's terrible. Probably nobody wants to see their own team die, either.
digitalemperor: (pic#2431358)

[personal profile] digitalemperor 2012-08-26 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
It's not like they haven't proven they can change our personality traits a little.

But that would probably be too obvious. There's likely a compelling incentive. Assuming not wanting to die isn't compelling enough.
medpacksapunch: Sakura: expectant/curious/explaning (See?)

[personal profile] medpacksapunch 2012-08-26 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Right. We'd notice if someone suddenly didn't care if they were hurting people.

...And I think it is, but every team feels differently about it...that's been pretty clear in other games.
genderbinary: (Said she's here to waste time)

[personal profile] genderbinary 2012-08-26 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
If their methods were known to the Personae, do you think the Personae's punishment would be private? I highly doubt it.
medpacksapunch: Sakura: extremely dubious (boys...)

[personal profile] medpacksapunch 2012-08-26 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
--Sorry, what? I... you lost me. I don't think they'd be private either, I think he'd be like 'I'm hurting these people because team whoever were terrible wolves' or something.

Did I make it sound like I thought it'd be private?
genderbinary: (Grow up and blow away)

[personal profile] genderbinary 2012-08-26 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
My apologies. I'm saying that the wolves wouldn't throw the game if they were being shown by the Personae that they were deliberately going against their rules--in which case their punishment, that others would be hurt, would not be private. So I think that whatever the wolves are doing is within the rules somehow, but not specifically playing to win.
