Team Post: Turquoise

[The room you step into is bare and depressing. Gray, damp stone walls, a dusty and worn table, a few candles providing dim light . . . There is, at least, a meager spread of bread, cheese, and meat laid out on the table. A pitcher of water and a few glasses are set upon it as well.]

[Most notworthy as you enter the room, however, is the sudden implicit understanding of the rules of the game:

1. There are 13 teams, and 3 among them are "wolves". That is, 3 specific teams will be choosing another team to "eat" each night. The team that is selected to be eaten will be killed.
2. Each day, every team must participate in the poll to decide who among them is the most suspicious; the most likely to be one of the wolf teams that is eating someone each night.
3. The two teams chosen as the most suspicious each day will be put up together in a poll for everyone to discuss and vote on. Teams are to vote for who they believe to be the most suspicious between the two, and the team selected as the most suspicious will be executed.
4. Any attempt to save those being put to death will be severely punished.
5. Although the ultimate goal is to find the 3 "wolf" teams, that is not the only way to win memories. This particular rule is left somewhat vague, but there is the impression that Jacobi and Jabberwock will be considering other factors as well . . .

You also are aware of the fact that your team is are sheep]

How difficult was it?

...somewhat difficult. Turquoise were wolves during that game. It made a difference.

You wouldn't have had to worry about getting picked at night. . .tch.

Well, whatever. We'll figure something out.

Echo remembers her strategy as a wolf. That will help us.

For instance, as wolves we removed any of the teams who were too close on our trail. If they were on top of the game, they were in our way.

However, we kept the teams that the others found suspicious—for our benefit.

It won't help us, but that's how the wolves will most likely work.

It helps a bit. Basically, being too aggressive is like asking to be killed.

[IGNORE THE CONTRADICTION IN THAT LAST COMMENT...]

[nods]

Being too idle made you suspicious to sheep.

Like you're laying low. . .tch.

What about this first "night." The game just started, so it's hard to pinpoint who'll be useful or not. How did you pick your first sheep to go out?

'Eating' or ousting?

Those who were ousted were the ones who immediately began making accusations too early on.

We 'ate' those who looked the least suspicious.
standbyrival: (wat.)

[personal profile] standbyrival 2012-08-25 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
The former, though the ousting that makes sense. People latch on to any excuse to justify their choices.

[frowns] So a random sheep?
screwthatnoise: (pic#986203)

[personal profile] screwthatnoise 2012-08-25 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
It was never random. The sheep team eaten was the team that would not make the wolf teams suspicious.

[thinking, thinking, how to explain this learned logic...]

Example. A and B are wolves.

C, D, and E are sheep.

C and D fought with each other. C knew D was a wolf team. The wolves noticed this and left them be. Instead, they ate E, who seemed relatively innocent.

However, if C had thought A was suspicious, the wolves would not 'eat' C because that would only justify it. That they were protecting themselves.

[nods, listening]

So we need to find a balance in acting suspicious enough for the wolves to use as as a scape goat, and being innocent enough that people want us around, and want to be our allies.

Last question. How did the game end? All the wolves at the others, or the sheep did away with the wolves. . .?

[personal profile] screwthatnoise 2012-08-25 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
That's right. We need to draw only the right amount of attention to ourselves. We must not be passive and we must not be aggressive. Do only what we need in order to survive.

[how did the last game end......]

...it was the most dissatisfying ending Echo could have asked for.

. . .I'm going to have to ask for details.

Turquoise only made it to the second ousting. After that, the remaining teams—Amethyst and Kunzite—decided to give up. It seemed like it was handled by Amethyst. Specifically Pascal.

. . .[SOME THINGS ARE STARTING TO CLICK...]

That would be annoying, yeah. It doesn't help us here, so just forget it. I think our biggest concern is making it through this first night.

R-right.

Echo's also remembered that we get clues.

As to who the wolf team may be.

Last time, Jabberwock presented three gemstones. One was the wolf team, the other two were sheep. We didn't know which was which.
standbyrival: (volt switch)

[personal profile] standbyrival 2012-08-25 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
. . .interesting. It's still easier picking a wolf from three than from fourteen teams. But it also automatically puts pressure on the teams chosen.

Guess we'll wait to see if one pops up.

Clues were not revealed until the second night.

. . .

Then what are we supposed to do?
