At the keyboard poking, and with the consequent letters filling the screen, the faded gray books immediately go black.

Any black books Hazel's now holding are completely black and unreadable.

[urgh, tries retyping the password thing]

Well think before you go screwing around with stuff.

Hearts are delicate, so you should be more careful with this one.

That seems waaay too delicate.

Well if people were poking around in your actual heart too much you'd die, right? It's like that but instead of dying you go crazy if people poke the wrong things.

So what's the point?

I think the point is the personae being stupid.

Let's go into the room that had music. The door was open, so probably no crazy-making things are in there.

The books fade again to gray, and assuming there aren't any more poking fingers, you manage to pull the book off the shelf and get a good look at its cover.

[let me try something real quick. takes the book outside the library, then screws up the password again—and goes to see if the book outside is still gray]

The book stays gray, lucky you.

[okay good. grabs it, and starts flipping through it as he walks]

There's a number of rooms upstairs, a good few of which have a hidden passageway that appears to lead... somewhere? There's another one in the room on the other side of the first floor, the one with music coming out of it.

[wait hold on that's where Hazel and that other guy are heading. Going upstairs]

At the top of the stairs, you can see two hallways, one pure white that leads to the left and a gray-painted one that begins darkening into black at the end on the right.
