You find yourselves in a well acquainted parlor while the storm rages on outside. Mother's voice resounds from somewhere unseen.

Life is just life. As a noble, how do you feel about the fact that the commoners may view you as someone who is required to protect them?

That's only to be expected, of course. If you wish to take the mantle of nobility, you had best be prepared to shoulder its responsibilities as well as its perks.

And it never stings if that's all they think of you?

Why would it? If I don't interact with them, I could hardly expect them to have deep meaningful connection to me.

To be fair, it's true. The price of nobility, I suppose.

If one finds the responsibility that burdensome, there are alternate paths. But I feel -- if you take it, you have to know what the role means.

That's good to know. We wouldn't want any discontented nobles in our midst. Speaking of which, though, this cousin -- were you perchanse responsible for him?
