You find yourselves in a well acquainted parlor while the storm rages on outside. Mother's voice resounds from somewhere unseen.

"Dear Mother will be with you in a moment, my children. But until then, please do try to become well acquainted with one another."

[inclining his head too, with only a little more grace] And the same to you. I wonder what our esteemed hostess wishes from us today.

As do I. Hopefully we will at least be provided refreshments. Where on earth are the servants?

With luck they'll be here soon. With the weather, maybe supplies were delayed.

[dryly] What an unbearable sort of lack we are suffering.

[mildly] It is not so late that it reflects poorly on our hostess.

We draw ever closer to the cut-off point for that.

While I'm sure it's excellent to get to know each other, a light snack and drink would surely lubricate the conversation.

And it would possibly be relaxing to have something to focus on.

Well, what can you expect.

So far? Honestly not much.

Now, now. It's not ladylike to let your displeasure show so openly.

Ah, yes, my mistake. I suppose I'm more restless than I thought.

My cousin went to one of her parties a short time ago. We haven't heard from him since.

I can see why that'd make one restless.

I intend to inquire after him, if our hostess shows herself.

What an interesting thing to learn.

Forgive my speaking so boldly. I'm mostly worried.

Oh, nothing to be forgiven, but I'd be cautious about voicing it too loudly in a place like this.

Ah, yes. We'll see what she has to say, if and when she shows herself.
