[FIREBIRD EXPLORE - 9 AM]

You find yourself in a small triangular room with high, high walls. All three walls are made of glass. Through one, all you see is white light moving in strange angular patterns. Through the second, the same white light forms great starbursts. Through the third, the light coils and wheels.

It's quite bright. The floor is made of ruddy beaten copper. The ceiling is a vast mirror. In the middle of the floor is a great copper bowl filled with something white and wavering, like smoke.

You find three copper tokens in your hand. They are flat, shaped like apples. Engraved on each is the word OPEN.

You're in a hallway lined with floor-length mirrors, five on each side. The door you came through is inset into a wooden wall behind you; another wooden wall blocks off the opposite end of the corridor. The high ceiling is copper, with stylized suns and birds carved upon it. The floor is opaque black rock. It’s rather chilly.

[looks into the first mirror on the left!]

It seems to be an ordinary mirror! It reflects you into infinity even if you're a vampire (and you could swear that one of your reflections, just out of the range of your vision, is waving at you.)

[well if I have an inkling something's waving at me then I better wave back.

DOES SO. Then laughs a bit at herself. Then goes to look in all of the other mirrors on the left side.]

The third one down is different. It displays a shadow figure of you, dark and indistinct at the edges, rather than a true reflection.

[... huh ...

Reaches to touch the glass.]

There's a ripple in the glass between your fingers and the shadow-fingers. It feels cool and smooth and unyielding, but...perhaps if you pushed...?

[PUSHES!]

Your hand begins to sink through. It takes a bit of effort, but it looks like you can enter the mirror. Hooray!

You find yourself on a wide expanse of flat grey ground, with the mirror behind you. A harsh wind is blowing.

A huge mural has been drawn on the ground with charcoal. A few other sticks of charcoal lie near it, as though carelessly left behind by the artist.

[dropping to her knees to examine the mural more closely, and picking up the charcoals.]

IT IS BIG AND ORNATE :Db

There are three pieces of charcoal. One is hot. One is lukewarm. One is cold.

[gosh here is this probably big and ornate thing that no doubt deserves respect.

SO I AM GOING TO DRAW ALL OVER IT.

Pulling her sleeve down to cover her hand and using the hot charcoal to draw big, magnificent wings on the deer.]

okay I am not a great artist. but the things I am drawing are obviously what they are. Putting the hot charcoal down, then picking up the cold one.

Addressing the deer being attacked by the griffiny looking thing on the right side now, with the cold charcoal. Just doing a test stroke at the side of the mural to see if the cold charcoal doesn't draw as well.]

...it simply erases the part of the mural it touched.

Now you have a big blank griffinish patch there!

PULLS A FACE. Then redraws the deer's back and gives it wings too to fill the space. ART!!!]

[WHAT ELSE DON'T I LIKE ABOUT THIS MURAL'S FACE. Well.

If freedom is the theme today . . .

Beginning the laborious task of rubbing out all of the patterning that frames the picture with the cold charcoal \:D/ then when that's done, drawing a sky overhead instead. With birds in it.
