[Most of the books seem to be on Pokémon. They range from the basic ("Common Pokémon of Johto") to the complex and theoretical ("A Study of the Effects of Climate on Evolution Stones"). Some of them are blank, though — especially the heavier tomes — and even the ones that are mostly full are missing the occasional chunk of text. There’s plenty of handwritten notes in the margins, though some of it looks like gibberish. One book in particular has been set aside from the other.]

[The cover is plain, decorated only by the title: "Mysteries of the Earth." On the first page is one hand-written word in a shaking hard: "Father?" The rest of the pages are blank. As you touch it...

There’s a feeling of giddy relief, as though the worst has passed and everything has, surprisingly, turned out all right. A taller, brown-haired boy is giving a cocky smile. "Rhydon... according to what your father mentioned in this manual, apparently it’s possible to evolve Rhydon even further... at least, that’s what I was able to decipher from it. The key to the secret should have something to do with trading, but..."

You smile with a tentative upwelling of pride. "In that case, I might be able to help. Pokémon trading is my area of speciality, after all." The brown-haired boy claps you on the shoulder and the girl standing nearby smiles.

And then you're just standing there, holding the book.]

[On the desk are small plush Pokémon: a Sneasel, a Feraligatr, a Murkrow, a Kingdra, and a red Gyrados. Next to the desk, not visible until you’re almost directly in front of it, is a door set into the wall. There is no handle or other obvious means of opening it. However, in the center of the door is an indentation exactly in the shape of an Onyx key.]

[YAY IT'S A POKÉMON FIELD TRIP!!

The circular design on the doors is made of three parts: a sun, a moon, and a star. Each forms shape an indentation in the stone of the door, as though something could be placed within. Like, oh, that crystal star you happen to be carrying.]
