Wako's Heart

You are standing in the middle of the main street of a sizable downtown area.

The early morning sun hangs low in the east. The air is salty and fresh – and oh man is your nose sharp! You can smell the people who came in here with you from yards away! Other stuff smells that strong, too! There is a spring breeze in the air. How do you know it’s spring? You just do. It’s the vibe here. Tropical trees and flowers grow in window boxes and small gardens. There are fairly standard shops (a movie theater! A book store! Small clothing boutiques! And so on), with trucks, cars, and bicycles parked at the curbs. There are no people or animals in sight, but there’s birdsong hanging in the air. It seems to be coming in every direction.

Oh. And you’re dressed like stripper clowns.

Am I making it to the giant robots?

[ You are in a sphere. The sphere is walled in glass screens, presenting a 360-degree view of a dome-shaped world. To the horizon are cotton-candy clouds, swirling softly. Above is a gradient rainbow sky dotted with faint stars. There is a large gold clockwork contraption at the very center of the top of the dome; there are circular clockwork gears filled with blue light at the heart of it, and spinning gold diamond shapes like chains criss-cross the multi-colored sky.

It’s some pretty amazing scenery porn.

And then there are robots.

They’re spread out across the dome – one for every other person in the heart. If you look closely, you’ll see that there’s a glowing sphere where the heart would be in each of these giant humanoids. Look even closer, and you’ll see human shaped forms in each of those spheres.
Yeah. It’s pretty likely that you’re in a giant robot, too! ]

[ Both of you are getting a memory!

This memory starts blurrily. Wako has just been sleeping, or unconscious, and is tied to a folding chair. As she comes to, she focuses on five people, all in masks and costumes. There’s a short girl with pink pigtails wearing the same outfit as Alois, plus two tall teenage boys, an old man, and an adult woman.

Old Man: This is the South Maiden?
Woman: What does that mean?
Pinkie, to Wako: Bring out your Cybody.
Old Man: The South seal was supposed to be broken to leave phase four. I wasn’t told we were going this quickly.
Teenager 1: Well, we did it, so what’s the problem?
Old Man: What?

Wako cranes her neck around and catches sight of a red-haired boy, hands tied and out cold on the floor.

Wako: Takuto!
Teenager 1: I’m announcing my candidacy as the first second-phase Star Driver.
Old Man: But does he know?
Wako: Takuto! Takuto! Hang on, Takuto!

Pinkie and Teenager 2 cut Wako loose and grab her arm.

Pinkie: You’re coming with us.
Teenager 1, walking up to a bunch of weird equipment: Open the Cybercasket!

Machinery whirls around. From Wako’s perspective, you get the first good view of the room. It’s filled with enormous, gray, stretched-out, slender humanoid statues. At the center is a metal column surrounded by pumps and gears. A small box shaped almost like a coffin screeches down the side of the column, and Teenager 1 gets in.

Wako: You’ve already broken the first seal? Do you have any idea what you’re doing?

The red-head – Takuto – is up on his feet now, and charges at Pinkie and Teenager 2. But then, everything goes gray. For a moment, Wako is the only colorful thing around and the only thing moving; she lifts her hand to a glowing pink Y at her collarbone. A second later, the masks on the girl and boy to her side glimmer, and they’re colorful and moving, too.

Pinkie: Isn’t that a shame? You have to be one of the chosen to get past this point.

A pink bubble surrounds the two people in masks and Wako. There’s a lot of light, and then they’re in a dome-shaped, kaleidoscope world, where clouds hang low at the horizon and the sky is a load of stars and color. Above are some gold, complicated clockwork things. There are four circles. Three are blue and spinning. One is red and still.

A giant robot with horns drops in. The pilot’s voice – hey, it’s that guy who got in the coffin! – booms.

Teenager 1: Oh, there’s the south Cybody… Maiden, please!

The duo with masks push Wako out of their floating bubble. She’s in her own floating bubble, and the giant robot grabs her.

Teenager 1: The seal in this Zero Time protected by the South Maiden… I’m gonna smash it! Here I go!

Oh – but then that Takuto kid shows up on the floor.

Takuto: I said, let her go!

I ain’t even describing the next part. This happens, and suddenly that redhead is in a giant white robot that looks like a musketeer and it beats up the other robot, which explodes, and grabs Wako’s bubble. That’s where the memory ends.

And then you make it to the giant robots. ]

[hangs back not saying anything, to quietly voyeur on if Naruto has any singing skills or not. :3c it's okay, I won't laugh too hard if you can't!!]

A-Ahem.

WaaaAAaaakooooo... AaAAaaare youUuuuu okaaaaAAaaay? Laa laa... I dooOoooon't like these cloOooothes buUuuUut that driiIiink was gOoooOoooood... laa... l-la....

[sorry for defiling Takuto's voice with this]

[ A memory is beaming into your heads!

You're in a dome world. Wako and Sugata are floating in bubbles. Takuto is on the ground. There’s a large glowing sphere at the heart of one of the three blue-filled spinning gold clockwork pieces. Slowly, it starts to descend. Inside it is a pale robot – it is skinny and curvy and obviously a chick robot. Somehow. At the same time, a white and blue robot that looks eerily like Takuto’s Tauburn is rising on a rotating spire to meet the descending chickbot, a blazing white sword in its hands. The chickbot shoots a few energy bolts, but the sword-carrying bot avoids them easily, slices through the pink bubble barrier, and chops the chickbot in half. A girl screams and falls out of where the chickbot used to be.

Above, that clockwork circle stops moving and the sign inside it turns red. The whole arrangement of circles shifts into the diamond formation from the previous memory.

Wako: Zero Time itself is screaming.

Takuto sprints and catches the teenage girl who’s fallen out of the destroyed chickbot. Nearby, a guy in a kinky clown costume and mask is giving a speech: “My brothers! With my Star Sword, I have broken the West Maiden’s seal, and led the Glittering Crux to the third phase. Furthermore, on this fated day, I will destroy Tauburn. Apprivoise!”He turns into a streak of light that lands in the sphere at the center of the white and blue robot. The memory ends.

As the memory ends, you're both back in your own bodies (and still in the stripper clown clothes).

But then the world turns gray. There's a blue light somewhere around your chest. Everything turns blindingly white, and when you can see again, you're here. ]

This is simultaneously the coolest and gayest thing that's ever happened to me.

Also, I am learning how to move and stuff]

Giant robots! Try moving.

[ The machine moves with your body. If you clench a fist, it clenches a fist, etc. ]

This is amazing!

Eeeeh, what's this?!

[testing testing, moving his arms and legs]

. . . Souya?

[ Yes! You can identify who's in who by their voices. ]

Moving?

[gesturing, oh look, the robot just gestured]

That's an intuitive control system...

[WAVES!]

Yeah. Look, they're giant robots!

I hope we get to fight something.

Ah--

[He had to pause for a moment because he really wasn't expecting to be asked questions suddenly like that.

And also because her outfit is also kind of ridiculous.]

Can you follow two dreams? ...well, I don't really know but I don't see why you can't. You should at least try.

[hesitates before continuing]

When I think about it, I guess I have two dreams, too, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to keep them both. I guess it scares me that I might have to give up on one to keep the other. They are both very important to me and I don't want to give it up.
