[The mist that's been hovering over the ring spreads out, covering the entire ring so thickly that it becomes as dark as night—and then darker. Too dark to see. Some people may feel things darting about, brushing past their legs or even tugging lightly at their clothes as . . . whatever it is passed them by.

When the mist lifts back into the hovering cloud everyone will find the display has changed. The ballot box this time is out where anyone can see it—voting won't be done in secret this time, though there's still only one vote per team permitted. However, the most eye-catching change are likely the iron maidens that have appeared near the center of the rings. . . . Hopefully that's just rust that's staining them.]

He's right. One of those teams voted on Heliodor but claimed they voted for Ruby.

It must have been important for them to take a risk like that.

Risk is essential for magic. But the fact that it's a risk means that it might turn out poorly.

What kind of magic would someone be trying to achieve by lying about their vote?

Sapphire - Kunzite
Citrine - Heliodor
Kunzite - Heliodor
Iolite - Kunzite
Tiger's Eye - Ruby
Coral - Ruby
Peridot - Heliodor
Heliodor - Kunzite
Turquoise - Ruby
Emerald - Kunzite
Ruby - Kunzite
Carnelian - Ruby

[shows his work ... somehow, anyway!]

So, that's what happened. I wonder why someone would lie about voting for Heliodor.

Is there any reason to lie if someone's not a wolf?

That makes me think Heliodor's definitely sheep, since a wolf wouldn't want to vote for another wolf.

I'm not sure. It makes me suspicious, because here's two scenarios I've thought of:

Whoever put votes on Kunzite didn't know Ruby was switching to them. There was so much vote swapping that who would account for a team switching a vote off of themselves. When they did it, they saved Heliodor ... except then Heliodor ended up with four, and Ruby was safe.

The other scenario is that Ruby planned for that to get votes on Heliodor and Kunzite so they could change at the last second, thus making them wolves that are now safe. I kind of doubt that, though. That's counting on way too much. Besides, I think Heliodor had four before Ruby moved—I'm not positive on this, sorry—so when they moved to Kunzite, it saved themselves, but the people trying to get Heliodor out of the voting wouldn't have accounted for that.

So, it still comes back to Heliodor. I'm not sure why someone would lie about that. A wolf could do that to try and control votes in a different way, but I'm not sure. For all we know, it was just a big mix up.

[processing all that...] Yeah, the lying's what doesn't add up. If Emerald had swapped votes at the last moment, I'd just say so. It'd be embarrassing, but not a big deal. And at this point, no one would be suspected of anything for voting for anyone. There's just not enough information. And a team would know who they voted for. Am I making sense?

Riku-san brings up a good point. Wolves don't necessarily have to cooperate with one another so long as they fulfill their own roles, I suspect.

Not that any of you will listen to me at this point, but that has to be the stupidest fucking theory I've ever heard.

Are you really suggesting the some wolves decided to throw the game and the best they could come up with was indecipherable voting shenanigans on the off chance someone would figure it out?

Not wanting to be seen as responsible for Heliodor being up for this vote, maybe? We don't know for sure that the liars are wolves.

It could be for any reason. Possibly they're a wolf and trying to obscure themselves, in which case they did a poor job of it; or they truly believed Heliodor were wolves but didn't wish to upset a friend by admitting it.

There may be other reasons, but those are the two I can think of.

Or it could be another reason as well. Trying to make themselves obvious to end the game would be another good reason, if they were wolves. Trying to protect a friend would be another reason, if they were sheep. It's also entirely possible that we're placing too much importance on what could be a misunderstanding within a team.

In the end though, all we have is speculation and gut instinct.
