You sit on the other side of the stage now, in an auditorium full of cracked and dusty stone chairs. It's cold and uncomfortable, but the stage before you still commands your attention, with the curtains now drawn back and shadows flickering upon it.

You are one half of a story to be played out today: either a hero or a monster. You must invent a backstory, motivation, set of powers, and anything else necessary for your monster or hero to defeat its opponent. Both consistency and creativity will be factored into scoring; for best results, tie their powers into their archetype as well as the backstory and motivation you give them.

"In the nearby forest lurks a monstrous Werewolf. It is the task of the Hunter to take it down and make the woods safe once more."

You will be designing The Hunter. Iolite will be designing The Werewolf.

This sounds like it's gonna be pretty fun.

Our Hunter is a really cool lady that wants to protect her home. She loves where she grew up a lot, and she always knew about the werewolf threat, so she spent a lot of her time learning how to be a cool Hunter so that she could protect her hometown, her friends, and her family.

She's clever, smart, creative, and resourceful, and she really knows the place where she grew up so she knows all of the hiding spots and that kind of stuff. It's her home, so she's gonna take advantage of really knowing her home. She's really tough and strong, too, and she's really good at using crossbows and swords... uh. And she did a lot of research on werewolves, too, so that she could be ready for whatever happens.

The shadows on stage flicker and follow your cue...then fade for the time being.

A pot of tea and some cups appear for you to refresh yourselves with.

The players in this show have been created! Now it's time to plan your attack. You can see what your opponents designed; give an explanation of how your hero or monster attacks it.

Diana was the previous hunter in the forest, charged with protecting it and keeping it safe. However, after an encounter with a werewolf herself, she was transformed into one as well. She still protects the forest while in her human form. On the full moon, her form as a werewolf comes out, and she continues her job as guardian of the forest, protecting the forest from those who would harm it, even as a monster. Unfortunately, she also can't communicate in this form, and thus has been largely misunderstood by the people nearby.

Diana has an intimate knowledge of the forest, and is an expert at hiding and camouflage, no matter what her form. She is also an accomplished msrksman with a bow, and skilled at tracking, trapping animals and setting up traps in general.

As a wolf, she is imposing and frightening, though once again, her primary advantage is her stealthy nature: She is an expert at hiding in the forest, and as a wolf her tracking is further improves, with the ability to track people by scent, and the ability to communicate with the animals in the forest.

Well, if that's the case, fighting might not be necessary. They just need to learn to understand each other.

—Yeah, I was thinking that, too. If they could communicate, they could figure things out.

If they realize they have a common goal they could work together.

Our Hunter being a smart girl, and knowing her work, and the forest, she notices that the Werewolf isn't hurting folks. That catches her interest. She starts tracking the Werewolf, and after much struggling, she finds the Werewolf in her human shape and approaches her, not to kill her but to be allies—maybe more even.

The curtains roll away to reveal the Ring once more. You may proceed to endgame.
