Lorelei stands on the edge of the sandbar, holding something in her hands. She says nothing, but she holds it up to you with a plaintive expression of earnest curiosity: what is this? Then she sets it down on the sand, gives you one last longing glance, and walks into the water. There's a splash, and she's gone.

The item has two blades that each have a ring at the end to put a finger through that are fixed together with a screw. You bring the blades together with your fingers in the rings to cut through paper, hair, fabric, or what have you.

From somewhere out in the bay, Lorelei's voice suddenly rings out. "How boring! Your answers aren't interesting at all; surely there's more magic to human lands than that? Please tell me more interesting stories of these things!"

It's a clock that a girl keeps in her pocket. It counts down the hours and minutes until midnight when she meets with a witch that is holding her lover captive. The first time the clock chimes at midnight, the girl offers some alcohol to the witch since she couldn't bring herself to find a heart that the witch asked for. She asked why the witch wanted a heart after the witch had a few drinks. The witch wanted something to use since her heart was locked away to keep her safe and alive forever, and the heart she had now was growing old . . . The next time the pocket watch struck midnight, the girl offered up a heart that she found in a deep cave. The hand of the pocket watch stopped at the stroke of midnight as the heart withered away to sand after centuries of disuse. So, the pocket watch no longer works, but it reminds the girl to keep her heart and lover close.
