TIGER'S EYE

You're on a sandbar in a shallow bay with a Tiger's Eye canopy shielding you from the hot sun. Some distance away in the bay, you can make out another sandbar with a Peridot canopy on it, but it's too far away to see any more details.

Lorelei stands on the edge of the sandbar, holding something in her hands. She says nothing, but she holds it up to you with a plaintive expression of earnest curiosity: what is this? Then she sets it down on the sand, gives you one last longing glance, and walks into the water. There's a splash, and she's gone.

Your item is a fork and spoon.

I don't know why they're shaped differently, though.

...Well a fork's for things you need to stab. And I think spoons are for liquids, or soft stuff.

They're both eating utensils for different kinds of foods. The fork is for food you need to stab, and the spoon is for soft food.

A wave washes over the sand, and the object you described is gone.

From somewhere out in the bay, Lorelei's voice suddenly rings out. "How boring! Your answers aren't interesting at all; surely there's more magic to human lands than that? Please tell me more interesting stories of these things!"

Your item is an umbrella. Its purpose and use has been described by Peridot as follows: "An umbrella is a multi-functional tool if you it right. You can use it to protect yourself from the rain or sun, float after jumping from a great height, can turn into an emergency make-shift boa and/or sword and also shoots water."

Usually it's used to protect from the rain, but I guess the rest could happen in movies or something...

They're pretty common, I think...but we can just make up some cool stuff for it to do.

Make up a new description of your item's intended purpose and proper use that is as ridiculous and inventive as possible within an hour and fifteen minutes. It can be a genuine alternative use or an extravagant lie, but either way, points will be awarded for creativity, convincingness, and effectiveness at refuting the original description.

This umbrella is an instrument that is voice-activated. Once you sing to it, it will project a force-field around your body that will not only keep you safe from rain and sun, but also from stuff like attacks and projectiles, too. And it gets bigger and stronger if more people sing to it, so you can protect more than one person at once.

There's a splash, and a sandy pathway back to the Ring appears before you...
