You find yourself back on the race track, this time with a variety of materials scattered across several tables. The audience cheering has died down, but you can still hear distant voices, murmuring, waiting.

Your task is to design and build a chariot that best represents your team. You will be given 600 points to spend on materials that you wish to use to construct your chariot, or spells to sabotage other teams. Each material will have certain stat bonuses, based on strength, defense, speed, stamina, and style. How you balance these stats out is entirely up to you.

Once you have completed this task, the race will begin! You will have an opportunity to pit your mount against other teams, and, if you spend points for them, use boosts to your benefit--or sabotage others. Keep in mind that other teams have this option as well, and your team may end up being the target of a sabotage spell. Certain stats may protect you from sabotage spells, but if they’re too low, you might have a problem. Lastly, although a well-balanced chariot may help you in the race, it does not guarantee a win in the game.

Your chariot right now is a plain-looking two wheeler that creaks a bit when you ride it. It’s big enough to fit your entire team, but you’ll be somewhat cramped. Your mount is a single horse, who is somewhat old and lazy. Your wheels are bronze and slightly rusted. The reigns are made of coarse rope. You get the sense that this chariot will certainly do the trick if necessary, buuuuut it won’t be great.

You have 600 points to spend. NOTE: You cannot race with a chariot that has a stat of 0 or less; all stats must have a value of at least 1 to race in the final product.

It seems a little interesting . . .

Hey. You wanna go for one thing, or try to be balanced? We might win if we pool all of our points into something.

Well . . . it says, "to best represent your team." So . . .

Then we'd have to paint it purple. I think we're a pretty balanced team which would mean getting a little bit of everything. Or focusing on what we want most.

A good balance, with a slight focus in one direction?

Or a good balance and sabotage spells. They're expensive, but maybe they're worth it.

Sure.

So where should we start?

Balance would be the four-wheeler. It gives us a boost in everything. That leaves us 300 points to go wherever.

Shields and wings look useful, but aren't too expensive. And . . . a giant lizard . . .?

It's kind of like the rockziles, yeah. Let's get the lizard. The shields and big wings puts us at 505, right?

Yeah . . . which is too much if we want to sabotage anybody. If we want to just try to balance it instead . . .

Oh, yeah. We don't have to sabotage anyone if you think this is good. I think it looks pretty balanced, and we've got enough speed to get a good head start over everyone.
