The room is like any other room, really—a cabin with a door, and windows, and beds. But the fireplace never gets warm, and the beds are hard, and the air is cold.

On the table there is food—water, and dry bread, and there is a pot of stew that always stays warm, and full, and smells delicious.

There are also five cards, waiting for your decision.

Does that take into account all the losses we could take? How long is this going to go on?

If we use the barrier, it uses up most of our points. We won't have enough points for the barrier again in round three, no matter how many times we're hit.

I don't know how many rounds we'll have, but we'll need to plan for more than two.

Yeah, I agree. If there's a round three, people are going to start getting a lot more desperate ...

We want to save for when we're desperate, too.

Yes. I told a jerk I wouldn't play the 10 points card.

The only real way to ensure our safety is to go 10-4-3 this time, that would put us at 21 for the third night if we do go for it this round. But I won't argue for it.

I'd rather you didn't. On the other hand, we don't have a great hand to work with. It might be better to keep the barrier in reserve.

I won't accept putting it in reserve. It's safe to assume the possibility that those that didn't attack us last round will attack us now.

Hard to say. They probably will get to us eventually, but we don't know when that will be. It could just as easily be we'll be hit hard in round three. For the time being, we're okay. We have one status to deal with, and it's not so had all things considered. We don't need that protection yet. Chances are, we can take another round, whatever they throw at us. The longer this goes on, though, the more desperate people are going to be, the more likely they'll be to hit three teams with big numbers. If we use up our points now, there's no telling if we'll get enough of them again to protect ourselves if there's a round four.

There will be four rounds. The protection is for the cards they will lay on us at the start of round three. We only need to receive a couple of high cards to render our points useless. I'd rather we protect ourselves and use them, than waste them for being arrogant.

That protects us against cards played tonight. That leaves two more rounds of play to protect ourselves against. It's not arrogance to want to hold onto our points. At this point, we're in good shape and we don't have a strong enough hand to be sure we'll have the points to protect another round.

The last two rounds are going to be rougher.

Because those that didn't attack us this time will attack us now. They won't target the same teams.

On top of it, teams will be more willing to play high cards this round. If we don't use the barrier now we might get hurt and lose our points at the same time.
