It's dark, far too dark to see anything. The only thing you can sense is the sound of rustling leaves.

Then a bright light appears in the distance and moves closer, the sound of leaves getting louder and louder until finally...

The Courtyard

[ You arrive in what is the courtyard for a castle. Both are quite large and very warm and welcoming. There is a some activity, maids and guards coming in and out of the castle and courtyard, heading in a variety of directions, but they seem to ignore you. A surprising number of trees are in the courtyard, overhanging over pathways and rather tall. Birds can be seen in the tree branches, roosting and flying amongst them.

There are three pathways, one that leads towards a gate, one that leads towards a back corner of the courtyard, and one that leads inside the castle.

However, before you can take a step, a knife comes flying from nowhere, embedding itself in the ground between your feet. It’s hilt is orange and there is a strange charm hanging from it. ]

[ The knife is one that is perfect for close combat. It's light weight and it seems as though it was made for your hand. If you move the knife, you can hear the charm ring like a bell. ]

[ The charm is firmly attached to the hilt of the knife, there is no way to separate the two. The charm rings like a bell. ]

The Castle

[ As you walk into the castle, you feel a set of conflicting emotions. You feel welcomed, that the people there want you to be there. However, at the same time, you feel out of place, that you’re not meant to be there and that at any moment you may outstay your welcome.

A hallway stretches out in front of you. Although you have seen people walk in and out of the castle, there seem to none here. ]

Outside the Castle

[ The gate opens and you see a path that leads into a forrest. The trees grow close together, preventing you from leaving the path. Just enough light comes from the canopies that keep you from tripping over roots and rocks. ]

Down Below

[ You walk down the steps, the light from above fading until it is almost dark. When you reach the bottom, there is a door that is slightly ajar. A flickering light can be seen through the crack of the door. If you step through the door, you’ll see that the light comes from a series of torches along the wall. There is a hall that stretches out in front of you. ]
