You hear the sound of clockwork gears clicking together, steadily slowing down.

Tick ... tick ... tick ...

Just before they stop, church bells begin to ring.

The throne is extremely solid and heavy; it would take a stronger person than most to move it. It is made of gold and, upon closer inspection, ebony wood. The cushion is a bright tawny color, enough that it nearly blends into the yellow of the throne.

It's empty, and you can.

When you do, at first nothing happens, and then -- creeping and slow -- you become aware of a pressure on your shoulders and an anxious feeling in your stomach. There is the certain sense of Something pressing down on you (responsibility? fear?) as well as a terrible sense of loneliness -- you can see everyone else in the throne room clearly from here, but it's like they're a thousand miles away, and no matter what you did, you wouldn't be able to get them to notice you.

There is a whisper of a voice, faint and quickly gone:

"My mother was the only queen."

Re: the throne room

[personal profile] fierte 2013-10-26 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
The doors are quite elaborate three wings wrapped around each other in a circle, a thick forest, two fierce dragons -- and hints of Aather as well: different personae, their faces twisted and strange (even the benevolent ones, if you know them). The handles themselves are carved to resemble an elaborate stylized rose, all out of ebony wood.

Outside is a hallway, leading either left or right.

Re: the throne room

As you head to the left, the area seems to open up, growing wide and warmer -- almost, but not quite, to unpleasantly warm, and certainly warmer than you'd expect in Camelot. At the end of the hall, you reach another set of huge elaborate double doors. The surface of the doors themselves are mirrored, polished to a shine, though they are covered a spiral of three wings, made out of gold, that stretch the whole length of both doors.

Instead of handles, there are two silhouettes (also in gold), of a boy and a girl, holding hands.
