RUBY

[The table is made from wrought iron in your team color; you can still see the other teams nearby, though of course their answers have been obscured. You can also see which knights have been placed with which team, as well as the multi-colored board next to Odile's chair.

In the center of the table is one item, and one item only. A glass box inscribed with two symbols: ♥ and X.]

But doesn't that mean everyone would lose?

Yes. Some teams will have to be kind in order for anyone to win anything at all. This is a matter of charity, in the end. Do we contribute to everyone's loss, or give up all hope of our own win for the sake of others? We have to assume everyone is a betrayer.

So... you want to just give up so people can win off of us, basically?
unfortunateson: (oh maybe it's not so bad)

I did not say "give up" . . . [sighs]

Yes, because we have to assume no one will be faithful to us. If they are, that is a bonus, and we will likely win something for it. But if they are not, we are only choosing between two different ways of earning one point.

I realize this is not logical, but this is a game in which no one will benefit if everyone is logical.

You totally said 'give up'.

But I think you're right. We win a lot of games, and we all have friends on other teams we'd like to see win more. So why not?

. . . I suppose I did. And--yes, I agree with that. I am not broken up about missing out on a memory.
