Someone's glasses got knocked off during the fight and that's why they're staggering, and that's how they get the injury.

No way, giving up bacon sucks. Maybe they unexpectedly stop fighting and eat bacon together.
I guess that works... not as romantic though...
What's the deal with romance, anyway?
Why not have both? It's a story, we can put everything in it that we want.

... the bacon is drugged with pills, someone wearing glasses realizes it and tries to snatch it away from the person who was about to eat it, the person thinks the one with glasses is trying to steal his food and challenges him to an intense battle under a waterslide. The one with glasses accepts because it would not be honorable to refuse.
Alas, the waterslide's framework is unexpectedly weak and it collapses. One of them protects the other, the morning after when he wakes up to a gentle touch, he realizes he is excited.
