Erika heart

You get the sense that you pass through a door, but it shuts immediately behind you. However, when you look back, there is nothing but a dead end wall behind you. There is carpet is lush beneath your feet, and the corners are free of dust. Except for the lack of any actual entrance, it could easily be the entranceway of a lavish mansion.

Any magical or otherwise supernatural abilities you have are disabled.

It's a kitchen. It's very large, and appears to be suited for elaborate entertaining. There's a free-standing refrigerator and freezer, a wine rack, various pots and pans hung from hooks above the counter, two knife blocks sitting on the counter, and a large oven and stove. The far end is lined with shelving probably intended to be used as a pantry, although all the shelves are empty.

[looking into the fridge]

The refrigerator is empty.

[not expecting much here, but checking both the freezer and oven as well]

The freezer has some ice in an automatic ice maker, but is otherwise empty. The oven is cold, but there appears to be a light dusting of ash along the bottom of it.

Doesn't look like there was any dinner here in the first place...

[returning to the dining room]

You head back.

There is! The wine rack is well-stocked, although not full. In fact, there appear to be a variety of spirits here, not just wine.

[HUH.

stashing some of the good stuff in her wheelchair's bottom compartment and taking an extra bottle of wine down to hold onto directly. does this taste good.]

It is very good, and very alcoholic.

[shivers and takes another sip before putting the cork back in the bottle and stashing it under her chair. kind of somewhere between '-' and |Da for a moment! WELL THAT WILL MAKE THIS HEART MORE FUN. . .

what about knives. are they all undisturbed in their proper places?]

In fact, three of them seem to be missing - a chef's knife and two paring knives.

Inside the oven is a fine coating of ash along the bottom, but it is otherwise very clean.

Oh, there you are! I was just going to come looking for you. Did you learn anything else from Miss Erika?

Simply that it's a murder mystery we have to solve, as expected. Before we can get any further, we'll have to check inside the closed rooms, but someone went and took off with all the keys.

Maybe we'll have a mystery of the key thief to solve ♥ or, more likely, one of her teammates took them when they were in the bedroom.

There are three knives missing here, and a pot. I'm not sure what it signifies, though I'm sure it's something, in such a closed setup. Miss Erika keeps a very fine vintage, however.

[giggle] Does she? I guess there had to be something in such a sparse and boring kitchen.

I admit I tried a little, just to see... it is very boring, isn't it? I suppose we need to find our way into the rooms soon, unless you can think of more to look at here.

[Heads to the knife block. Are any of the knives missing?]

There are now four knives missing, although one of them has a piece of origami paper stuck in its place.

[Pulls out the piece of origami paper.]

It's a note that reads "I took this in case I needed a tool and will be returning it! I don't think it's relevant to the mystery, though the others may be. - Meadow"

[Meadow, whoever you are, you sound kind of adorable. Puts the paper back where he found it and heads toward the wine rack.]
