You're in the Ring by yourselves this time, surrounded by the same columns on all sides--except this time there is no spacing between them whatsoever, and the vines seem thicker.

A statue about four feet tall stands in the middle of the room; it is a woman in a simple tunic carved from white marble, but her head is missing. Although it's clearly a solid statue, it seems that the limbs can be moved and manipulated to imitate other positions.

It seems likely that this statute will do battle with another team's in the arena we choose. It will be at a disadvantage in the majority of those conflicts, but is best suited to those three.

An understanding of literature doesn't rely on the accessories presented. Deciding that she's well suited to it fits our previous statement that strength comes from within.

A timed battle suggests a need for quick wit, which likewise cannot be bestowed by trinkets and costuming.

Aside from navel battle, the remaining battles do require equipment or accessorization. If navel is a pun, her internal characteristics, rather than accessories, must be her strength. If it refers to the orange, no other team's statue can possibly be better equipped than Carnelian's. The same applies if it refers to the remnants of a human umbilical cord.

We misjudged the purpose of "strengthening" her in the first round. His understanding was exponentially more superficial than Ling's. To remain competitive, Carnelian must choose fights which require inherent qualities.

I think that she could probably be good at anything. But you're right about if she needs to bring her own stuff.
