Tiger's Eye

[You find yourself in a medium sized room, large enough for a round table and seven chairs. There are a few things of note on the table:

-12 glass bowls in the colors of the teams. They cannot be moved from the table or broken.
-12 large black marbles
-A platter of cheese squares on tooth picks, Cheddar, Pepperjack, Swiss]

Each marble represents five attack points. Each marble must be placed in a bowl, but you may distribute them however you wish.

Know that no team can hope to survive more than thirty arrows.

Without knowing 100% which team would do such a thing, we'd instead be condemning a team to its death.

... [sigh] The teams who put themselves last in the last game. They've got no reason not to do it again.

Weren't those only a couple of teams?
reducedtoasch: (Nngh... Do I really...)

... I spoke to Knife after the last game. Emerald will sacrifice themselves again.

... For the slim chance we will not be targeted by seven teams, you would suggest we place all of our marbles with Emerald.

It's the best chance we have of not dying and not hurting anyone else.

... I apologize Mitchell, but the odds of our survival are too narrow, if not none. In this one case, I would prefer to accept our fate while doing good.
deadlyfurniture: angry (Well Jerry Bellows)

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] deadlyfurniture 2011-04-10 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
It's not our fate. Everyone else is having the same discussion we're having right now. How many others are going to sacrifice themselves? How many others are going to put theirs on teams that they know will sacrifice themselves? We've got strong ties to plenty of teams and they won't want to attack us either. Our chances of surviving are looking pretty good from where I'm standing.
reducedtoasch: (Not a happy face. Not at all.)

[personal profile] reducedtoasch 2011-04-10 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Citrine and Emerald, perhaps, but all of the other teams? Can you name five more teams that will not place a single marble on us and instead on themselves or another team?
deadlyfurniture: angry (And lent down and planted)

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] deadlyfurniture 2011-04-10 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Would any of the other teams think that we'd do it? I know that Emerald will, and there's a pretty good chance that Citrine will as well. What's so difficult to understand about this? It's a way out of hurting anyone.
reducedtoasch: (Sounds like pure dicks to me.)

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] reducedtoasch 2011-04-10 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
There are two sides to this Mitchell, protecting ourselves and reducing whatever damage we are forced to deal to others. Your conclusion only deals with the second, but as things stand right now, we have no way of guaranteeing our own survival.

You will instead accept death at the hands of others than ourselves. We will not live, Mitchell.
deadlyfurniture: angry (To which he gave a little cough)

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] deadlyfurniture 2011-04-10 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, because killing ourselves definitely protects us! I'm saying we should protect ourselves by not choosing to die, and protect everyone else by choosing a team who's already dead. If you're so sure that we're going to die, that means you're sure every team is going to die. And in that case why are you even arguing about where we place our points?

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] reducedtoasch 2011-04-10 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Because placing our marbles on teams we 'know will die' seems like a cheap and desperate way to go about things! Because they're dooming themselves anyway, let's try to save ourselves by taking advantage of their sacrifice?
deadlyfurniture: angry (With blazing wings I neatly aimed)

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] deadlyfurniture 2011-04-10 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
This is about honour for you? Jesus Christ, do you think there is a single team in this place that would want us to die because we decided it wouldn't be noble enough to save ourselves? They wouldn't be sacrificing themselves in the first place if they didn't want to help us!
reducedtoasch: (He shall sleep with the cheagles.)

Re: Discussion

[personal profile] reducedtoasch 2011-04-10 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
This isn't about what other teams want. This decision is made by our team alone, by what we all individually believe in.

My belief has always been to use my life to help others, Mitchell. I would rather use my life as those teams would, sacrificing myself, than be the team that would thank those teams for saving them.

That's great for you, but from over here it sounds like you want to kill the rest of us for no fucking reason.

I would not charge forward with a decision unless it came as a result of a consensus. That's why I came to speak with you.

[ Annoyed sigh, ruffling at his bangs. ]

I think you and I can both see that we won't settle on an agreement over this. With five of us here, it'd be best to just put this straight to a vote. I can accept whatever conclusion we end up with.
deadlyfurniture: frowny (And her husband stupidly)
