Carnelian

When you draw close to your team's tree, a dark cloak closes around everyone. If you get too close, there's a strong chill. If you ignore that, it still looks like a nice morning outside, bright and warm. So, it might be better to just stay with your team and tree . . . With a faint rustle, the flowers of the tree start to change and turn colors, dying into many vivid shades.

Okay, first task! I'm making this easy on you, but try to have some fun with it, alright? If I fall asleep, then you're going to have a tough time, riiight? Now, you've got all kinds of colors, but you've got the same tree. So, what's up with that? Tell me what they mean, pick what that says to you. Give me a story or a few words as long as it works for you.

Is this a metaphor for the teams?

Seven colors.

Which one should we write about?

All of them.

Right.

So let's start from the top. White.

Light, stability, day, knowledge.

So something like...

"The traveler awoke as the light began to stream in through the window of the inn she had lay down for the night. With it brought knowledge and contentment of a stable new day dawning."

No. It doesn't need a story.

Why not?

It gives it meaning.

I give white meaning.

Make up children's stories for the rest.

Okay, Shiny.

Next is red.

[ indifferent ]

Let's see... red can mean blood, and fire, and a sunset.

"The blood from the traveler's wounds excited her determination as she fought against the fire-snakes of the plains as the sun set slowly behind her. As she dodged another blast of hot fire from each of its gaping mouths, she swore she would make the monster regret choosing her for prey."

[ eye roll ]

Well, if there's no objections.

Yellow, which can stand for money? And flowers.

"The traveler strode along the bright yellow daisies, optimism in her heart and a generous amount of gold pieces in her pocket from her last journey in the unexplored caves, which had netted her a great amount of treasure and adventure."

[ tunes you out to write Darkness, chaos, night, cold, change down for black. ]

Green is next, which should have something to do with nature and trees.

"The traveler continued onward through the thick dense forest, surrounded on all sides by the natural voice of the trees. She hadn't gone far before a horrible plant monster appeared and attempted to attack her with burning green ichor."

Death.

What's death?

[ points at the green flower mildly ]

The traveler was able to kill it in the ensuing battle, leaving a decaying green husk behind in her wake, a symbol of the death and rebirth of the natural world."

[ Nods at rebirth. ]

Blue is easy, that's water, and calmness.

"The traveler's journey had at last brought her on board the deck of a large boat, it's mighty sails swaying strongly with the breeze. The winds were strong but the sea was calm, and it would soon ferry her to her destination. She took the rare moment to relax."

[ Shrug.

Done. ]

That leaves purple...

...that's hard. [thinks!]

[ points in the direction of iolite ]

I met an Iolite recently. Maybe I can connect it to what she told me somehow.

"The traveler had met her most difficult opponent yet. Rather than brute strength, this opponent tried to outwit her using finesse. She had taken a number of small yet annoying hit that would surely result in several bruises. She realized then that the opponent's real objective was to provoke her into making a mistake. A cool balance of excitement and rationality would be needed to win.

After the battle, she found enough medicine to heal her wounds on her opponent, took them, used them and moved on."

[ Blank disinterest.

Black: Darkness, chaos, night, cold, change

[When you finish reciting your meanings, baskets appear. Lots and lots of baskets, too many baskets . . . The largest baskets have team names scrawled on leaves inside them. The smaller baskets have names of knights present scrawled on the leaves inside of them.]

Now, part two! So, we've got some nice flowers with different colors, and they mean all kinds of things . . . Let's spread the love around. Pick a few flowers, not all of them, a few! Then, decide who you want me to deliver them to. How about five of each color for the teams . . . And why don't you give the knights some, too. You can pick five for them and decide who gets your flowers.

[[Here's the breakdown: You have a total of thirty-five flowers, five of each color, to give to teams. You can give one team all of your flowers, all of your yellow flowers, a mix of flowers, only one flower, or none at all. You can mix and match to your hearts content, just mark where each flower goes.

For the knight's flowers, you can pick one of five colors, so you will miss out on two colors. Then, you specify which knight you would like them delivered to. Likewise, you can give a knight all five, a few, just one, or none.]]

This is kinda nice.
