Jasper + Emerald

Through the doors, you find yourselves in a small circular room that seems to be decorated much in the same way as the ring is decorated today. The curtains are in alternating colors of your teams, and in the center stand are three surprisingly lifelike, but faceless sculptures. They stand with their backs to one another, facing out to the chairs. About each of their necks is a cord that holds a sign written in a fine, looping cursive.

The conviction was for trespassing and illegal immigration. It seems their motives were quite as you've stated them.

That doesn't seem like that serious of a crime...

Seriously, that's it? I'm telling you, let's just sentence them all to to a lecture.

I'd be fine with that, personally. I don't have any desire to see other people bleed.

What would the nature of each lecture be? Is that really appropriate for all of the crimes? Shouldn't we attempt to tailor them a bit more...?

Like that, but bullshitted longer. It would be fairly easy to add a few sentences relating to the actual crime.

That's entirely too simplistic.

Why? Everyone else agrees, and I'll even give the lecture myself since no one else seems interested in actually performing it.

Because I'd like to win this game, and your "bullshit" won't. Perhaps we could have the gambler play some variety of Russian roulette...? Well, I don't have a gun, though.

Then at least try a little harder to suit the punishment to the crime.

Why should I? So that I can potentially receive a memory by harming someone else? Each "criminal" could be one of us, for all we know.

There's no reason to make the punishment fit the crime. You just want to make this harsher than it has to be.

Do you honestly think the first two merit anything worse than a lecture? What meaningless 'crimes.'

Presumably under normal circumstances they might incur a fine or re-imprisonment, rather than just a lecture. Surely you could come up with something a little more clever.

Sure. We could duct tape them in a room with you for a different length of time depending on the severity of the crime.

Well, I'm flattered by your faith in my ability to inflict punishment, but I'm not sure it's as elegant a solution as we might have.

Sounds fine to me too. I'd have my own ways of 'punishing' someone if they pissed me off, and it wouldn't be like this.
