Ruby + Sapphire

Through the doors, you find yourselves in a small circular room that seems to be decorated much in the same way as the ring is decorated today. The curtains are in alternating colors of your teams, and in the center stand are three surprisingly lifelike, but faceless sculptures. They stand with their backs to one another, facing out to the chairs. About each of their necks is a cord that holds a sign written in a fine, looping cursive.

How does one play?

Red could explain it better than me...but it's a card game. You start out with five cards, and you try to get a combination that has the most points.

Something like that would suit my son better, but I would not mind indulging it.

I don't play it too much, because the people I play with are the kind of people that cheat at cards. But I still think it's enjoyable.

That is one way to win.

It's a good way if you want to win no matter what, but it's not as fun for the people who keep losing.

Losing can be fun too, for the right stakes.

You mean because you learn something from it?

Perhaps something like that.

What do you like about losing, then?

Perhaps what you give up is something better shared.

Oh! Like food, maybe.

Food, yes. Few people prefer to feast alone.

But if it was like that, I wouldn't bother with a game to begin with. I'd just share.
