Through the doors, you find yourselves in a small circular room that seems to be decorated much in the same way as the ring is decorated today. The curtains are in alternating colors of your teams, and in the center stand are three surprisingly lifelike, but faceless sculptures. They stand with their backs to one another, facing out to the chairs. About each of their necks is a cord that holds a sign written in a fine, looping cursive.

We'd have to phrase it carefully so the hypothetical criminals don't end up getting force-fed forty cakes or something. Perhaps "An entire cake will be before them and it will get cut up and while we all get two pieces, they're only allowed one."

Yeah, if she tried to twist our words like that it'd be terrible. You sound good at this kind of thing — you want to be in charge of making sure we can't get misunderstood?

Oh, I'd hope so. It's just I heard one of the duties of the knights was to try to protect the heroes from monsters. I guess I should learn...

I don't think you need to learn how to fight to do that. It's a good idea, but you could also quest for ways for people to get away from the monsters fast and rescue people like that. Bob has those shadows that people can step in and out of, Persephone has sprouts that'll take you to her realm to do gardening instead of being eaten—

Yeah. Bob's a shadow cat — most people call him Cheshire. Persephone's a girl who likes plants who changes ages sometimes.
