HELIODOR
You can see the other teams, but there is an invisible barrier preventing you from hearing them. You can assume that they can't hear you, either. There is a hefty serving of sweet wine and liquor, should you choose it. With a loaf of bread that you can slice. Nimue is in the center of the formation of teams, and when she speaks, you can hear her loud and clear.
"Storytelling has been a tradition of the knights of Camelot for some time. They would tell of the awesome feats of their king, and of their fellow knights... and... they were also prone to exaggeration in some cases."
There appears a small set of cards next to the liquor. You can read them, or you can implicitly understand them if you can't read.
"What feats have the heroes of Aather accomplished, I wonder? And what... exaggerations they may take? Before you, you will find prompts for your tales. You will write one for yourselves, for a set of knights, and for another team. I will select the most inspiring, as will your peers."
She tilts her head. "Ah, perhaps it is bad to encourage grandstanding..."
But before you can ask her, she vanishes.

[...unsure if it's safe to say some of the things.]
She'd probably love a story like that.
[Also looking at the wine curiously.]
Re: GENERAL DISCUSSION
We can go with that, then. For the others... this kind of thing is more your area than mine, I'd think... Do you know who Spike is?
Re: GENERAL DISCUSSION
[Shrugs.] I have been telling or writing a lot of stories. I'm getting practice, at least.
No. I've spoken with Edmund several times though. [Looking at the knight's picture.] Don't recognize him either.

The best story telling comes with a bit of drink.
[THIS IS LOGICAL.]

YOUR TEAM'S STORY...
Re: YOUR TEAM'S STORY...
Team Sunshine and Fucking Rainbows, it's only to be expected that such a team is full of daydreams. A team full of energy and passion! Should anyone of this team decide to do something, more often than not, it's done with unwavering determination, and an excessive amount of energy.
Some could get tired just watching them. Grand dreams, simple dreams. Dreams for the power to change things with a simple equation. Dreams to give a memory of someone dear in physical form. [Holds up his wrist with the charm bracelet.] Dreams to protect, dreams to save, dreams to have happiness. All wishes and desires.
And it's the belief of this humble soul that each and every one of them are capable of achieving their dreams. Because Heliodor is a team of unbridled passion and strong belief.
However, to just say that is a boring story, isn't it? Not one worth telling because if it was that simple, it would be obvious. No, no, for you see, while all their dreams were achievable, there are bumps on the road.
Sometimes even the most determined can have the worst luck.
Not all who would join that noble ranks of Heliodor fully exemplify the sunshine and fucking rainbows. Some come in with a dark cloud. A cloud they could not name or understand, but still. One can only know what pure sunshine is after having seen a cloudy day, so in this group of bright individuals, some are not.
A curse! A dreadful curse. A curse this individual started to believe has followed them their entire life.
"A disappointment! Bad Luck!" That was the feeling they got with every memory. A feeling that grew as they played in games. Everytime that person was present, they would lose. Like every effort was futile. And the cloud, the curse grew.
It was maddening, disheartening, and worst of all, they lied. They lied and pretended nothing was wrong. Hiding the clouds from the bright sunshine everyone else enjoyed. "How could I spread the curse to them? How could I doom them to these cloudy days?"
It only got worse. They would try quests, but not simple quests. They'd agree to ridiculous quests, ones that affected them. Each time, they would suffer, but it came to the point they felt like that was the only time they could do something of worth.
A problem was a light way to put it.
Until one day, the others had had enough. They had caught glimpses of that cloudy day. They knew something was up. And when they couldn't hide their pain, when that brilliant sunshine realized the problem, they could not be silent.
"Stop it! You don't need to do it!"
"But I must!"
"You don't! You could talk to us! There's definitely another way."
"There isn't, nothing else works!"
Re: YOUR TEAM'S STORY...
Experience pain beyond belief, survive it, for great power.
The cloudy day would go on their own, except it is hard to hide from the light. Heliodor had noticed and followed. And as the cloudy day was going through the trial, they arrived. Their teammate was in pain, they knew, but how much?
The curse weighed down on them, made them want to give up. They couldn't make it, they were convinced! And if they couldn't, what use were they to that beautiful sunshine? Just as the clouds moved in to make day into night, suddenly, sunshine broke through!
"You are stronger than this. It doesn't matter what mistakes you made, it doesn't matter if you're not strong in the ways others are. You have a strong heart, a strong spirit."
Words that they spoke often that the clouds had kept away, but in the darkest hour, they broke through. Heliodor came to the aid of their teammate with the terrible curse, even if it was to assure them they could win even against the powerful curse, against that cloudy day.
And you know what?
They did. They got through the trial.
And afterwards, Heliodor yelled at him and there was a bit of hitting, but mostly there was hugging. For the first time, that person with the cloudy day could finally see the sunlight around them for what it was. The sunlight was the strength they needed. As long as that sunlight was close, they could overcome this curse, and they could banish the clouds. Perhaps not in that moment. But someday.
Though, it should be said, since that day, that cloud following them was quite a bit smaller.
YOUR KNIGHT'S STORY...
Re: YOUR KNIGHT'S STORY...
There is a choice that a certain person has that's always difficult.
To feed their pet extra food or not. Yes, pet owners have a hard time denying their pets something that would make them happy, affectionate. It seems pets always have this way of looking at you that just make you feel guilty if you deny them food.
Even if you fed them thirty minutes ago.
For Edmund, the day had been stressful. He had been talking with an Onyx Knight, Spike, about how to help their respective bosses. It was no secret that Maleficent and Beauty had a complicated relationship. However, it seemed none of their solutions were getting anywhere.
It was taking a toll on Edmund and so when his cat wanted food, how could he deny it it's treats? It'd be like stabbing his own heart.
The talk went on and on and Edmund fed his cat more and more and eventually even Spike was feeding the cat.
Until eventually there was no food to feed the cat.
They had given the cat all the food.
It was a problem. They had no food! There was no food for them or any of the knights. Even if they couldn't realistically starve, the other knights would not be happy with them.
But then Edmund remembers! The quest for Mother Goose. He had given it out, so there were several people all over Aather who could get food baskets.
He told Spike this fact and quickly, they found these people, asking for them to write a story for the sake of the knights (and their own hides.) They promised to get them something later, but the heroes were more than happy to help the knights who so helped them.
Luckily Edmund and Spike were able to bring food back to Sterling and Onyx before dinner and they were safe for another day.
At least, until Edmund's cat got hungry again.
ANOTHER TEAM'S STORY...
Re: ANOTHER TEAM'S STORY...
There is a lady of complicated history and complicated motivations on Peridot. Perhaps that is the way of Peridot, but I only know of the one. She is a mystery, and she makes this no secret.
There is a man on another team. He knows this woman of mystery. For him, this woman is a monster, a demon to be feared. At least as far as this third party can see.
There are claims of stolen life. There are claims of lost family and anguish. All justifiable, but the question becomes...
When it's a woman a mystery and when it's his pain, is everything really what it seems? Is everything truly just rivers of blood. Is it truly just mad laughter. Is it destruction and anger.
Or somewhere in this whole mad world, in this mystery, in this story...
Whose the one that's always crying?
