CORAL

You find yourself inside an elegant room, lit with a crystal chandelier shaped like a swan’s wings. Inside, there are just enough couches and chairs to seat you all. The room is bracketed on all sides by glittering golden bars, which flare inward and taper off at the ceiling. All along the bars hang the portraits of your fellow Heroes and Knights, each with an indentation along the bottom of the frame.

In the middle of the room, there is a table, and on that table are several clusters of perfect tear-shaped rubies. Six for each of you. As with memories, you instinctively know which of the gems are yours. If someone should touch one that isn’t theirs, it will disappear from their hand, and appear in that of their rightful owner.

[shakes her head] No, it isn't. We need to keep them from dying first. And then...

[gulps, multiple times] No one is dying!

[bites his tongue, and nods]

Right. No one's dying this game, okay?

[sharp nod] We'll protect them.

Or try. I hope they do the same for us.

Or try.

They will. Coral has plenty of friends who'll protect us. We need to focus on everyone else right now.

[nods] I will do that.

[toys with a stone in his hand]

Who do you want to protect most, Anemone?

Sayaka-chan is my best friend.

I'll play on one Sayaka, then.

. . . could you play on one Berry for me? From Citrine?

[n-nods]

[r-relief. ruffles her hair]

Thanks. And d'you wanna split one for a knight, too?
