[Upon entering your team's cloud of mist, you find yourselves transported to a bare stone room with a single stone table and chairs. (The chairs have been bolted to the floor.) On the table are a 16 red stones, 8 blue stones, and a 2 black stones. There are also indentations around the edge of the table, each one marked in the color of one of the teams.]

It depends on what result we're going for. From a strategic standpoint... we can't defend ourselves, so protecting ourselves by stockpiling defense isn't going to do anything. If we're trying to be merciful, one option would be to play all our attack stones on one team and hope it comes out to a fairly clean death. Otherwise, we can try to cancel out our attacks as much as possible. Alternately, we play favorites and protect the teams we know well while giving up on the others.

The mercy. . . of death, is it.

[shrugs]

Well, I'm making a pretty big assumption there, but it's a possibility.

Distributing over all won't work, so I think no matter what we're going to be playing favorites. The end result will be harsher if we don't. So it's just a matter of to what degree.

Why won't it work? Numerically it makes sense.

Because if all the teams distribute, there's half as many defense points. All the teams will take on a hefty amount of damage, over all.

There's just not enough to cancel the damage out, while the uneven distribution could allow teams could get out with less.

Yeah, but we don't know how other teams are playing, so it could be a slaughter all around no matter what. I'm not saying we have to distribute two red, one blue to eight teams, but at least we could say we tried to play fair. Well, not that playing fair matters to me especially, but.

Mm. I will go with whatever you all decide, it's just best if we understand what we're doing, before we put down our answer. . . I really don't like this.

I'd be worried if you did like it.

Yes, that would be worrying.
